Patch Notes for 5.00 – The Key New Features on the PS4
The update 5.00 has been extensively tested by beta testers over the past months. The key features were already revealed in August:
- With update 5.00, all users who own a PS4 Pro can stream their gameplay directly via Twitch at 1080p and 60 fps.
- PlayStation VR now supports virtual 5.1 and 7.1 surround sound through headphones when watching Blu-rays and DVDs in cinema mode.

- The existing main/sub-account system on the PS4 is being redesigned, now there are family accounts for adults and for children. Up to 7 family members can use the online features. The special thing: For each child, the settings can be configured individually. This parental control can be set up at any time from a PC or smartphone.
- You can now follow accounts of all PSN users. Previously, this was only possible with some verified accounts, such as official game accounts or accounts of certain developers or YouTubers. Now it applies to everyone. You don’t even have to send them a friend request. This will not fill your friends list either. You can of course set whether you want to allow everyone to follow you – or just your friends. Users can also be blocked.

- With custom friend lists you can organize your friends more easily.
- Additionally, the quick menu has been updated: there is now a clock, you can leave parties faster, and for the songs being played on Spotify, you can see albums and playlists. You can also customize your notifications.
