The PlayStation 4 Pro is not a response to the Xbox Scorpio. Rather, it sees the PC as competition.
Better graphics performance to retain players
According to TheGuardian Sony boss Andrew House, stated that console players often switch to PC in the middle of a console cycle to experience better graphics quality . Sony aims to keep these players within its ranks and provide them with the best and highest graphics performance on the new console. House further stated that the PS4 Pro is not a response to the Scorpio, as there was no discussion of that console when development of the PS4 Pro began.
They do not view the Xbox as a threat. Instead, they see the PC as the main competitor.
The surprisingly low purchase price of the Pro version, around €400, could be a strong buying reason for console enthusiasts. The box will be released on November 10, 2016.
The Xbox Scorpio, on the other hand, is expected in 2017.
