The retail chain GameStop is bringing back the promotion where a PS4 Pro is available for 99€. You need to trade in an old PS4 and 3 games. Last year, this led to chaos. The demand for the offer of the year was insane back then.
In April 2017, a trade-in promotion by GameStop caused pure chaos. Customers could hand in their old PlayStation 4 with 2 games and pay an additional 99€, in exchange they received a new PS4 Pro. We called it the “Offer of the Year” back then.
However, the deal became known a bit too early and GameStop totally underestimated the demand.
People ran to the stores, but found empty shelves. The PS4 Pro consoles were gone quickly. Some could get on a waiting list for reordering, others could not. The lines were busy, employees seemed uninformed and overwhelmed. There were angry Facebook posts and people were furious.
This should not happen again a year later. By the end of 2017, GameStop had brought back the promotion and it went smoothly then.
GameStop brings back the PS4 Pro trade-in promotion for 99€
Once again, GameStop offers to take in used PlayStation 4 consoles and in return provides a new PlayStation 4 Pro. This time, however, they want 3 games.
In detail:
- The offer runs from March 19 to March 31 in all GameStop stores in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. During this time, you can take advantage of the offer and reserve a PS4 Pro. The trade-in promotion itself will take place between April 2 and April 14. The old PS4 must be handed in for the trade.
- GameStop will provide a black 1TB PS4 Pro for 99€.
- They want a PS4 console with three games and one controller in exchange.
- The traded-in console must be fully functional. The three games can be any except 67, which are listed here. These include games like Destiny, The Elder Scrolls Online, Battleborn, No Man’s Sky, Final Fantasy 14, and many older sports games from previous years.
- Instead of the third game, people can also trade in a second functional controller.
- Each store can take 50 reservations.
