So far, subscribers on PS4 could not benefit from major sales when they could play the games via subscription. Technically, one owns the game and could not purchase it on sale. However, with the latest update from Sony for the PlayStation Network, this is now changing. This fulfills a long-standing player wish.
While everyone is currently waiting for the PS5, which could, by the way, be quieter than the PS4, Sony is also active with PlayStation 4. Especially for subscribers, there is now a noticeable improvement in the PlayStation Network (PSN).
This was previously: If you subscribed to PlayStation Plus or PS Now, you could not purchase the games included in the subscription.
The problem: With the subscription, you are only “borrowing” the games. As soon as you cancel the subscription, the games are no longer available to you. However, if you want to purchase a game from the subscription, it was not technically possible before.
Because technically, you are already in possession of the game and therefore cannot buy it in the shop, and Sony does not offer a gifting function. This is very frustrating when the game is available for a very low price.
