On October 14, the PlayStation Network (PSN) appears to be experiencing issues. Recently, the system software update 8.00 went live, but now there are disruptions and error codes WS-44369-6 and WS-37505-0 occurring.
What is the issue? On October 14, more users are reporting problems with the PlayStation Network since the late afternoon. The main features affected are social features. For instance, the friends list does not load, remaining empty.
- The error message “WS-44369-6” is displayed after a short while.
- Playing games with friends is not possible as usual.
- Creating parties is not working smoothly (2:00 PM)
Update 7:00 PM: The official network server status of the PS4 now indicates that “Gaming and social network” are having problems. The developers are working to resolve these disruptions (via Status.PlayStation.com – as of 6:41 PM).
Update 5:00 PM: It seems almost as if the situation has worsened again. Currently, issues are occurring again, manifesting in the endless loading of the friends list, and creating parties results in error code “WS-37505-0”.

Firmware Update 8.00 responsible for the “PlayStation Network” issues?
What is the cause? According to the official service page of PSN, there are disruptions in the network. It indicates that there are issues with “PlayStation™Video”. However, this message is from 09/29/2020.
Today, the new firmware update 8.00 was launched. This was supposed to bring changes to party and messaging functions to the PlayStation 4 (via PlayStation Blog).
This could possibly be the cause of the issues and disruptions – however, this information is not currently confirmed by official sources.

How the community is reacting: Under the announcement for the firmware update, there is a flood of harsh criticism on the official Twitter channels of PSN. Disruptions are a hot topic under many posts from recent hours:
Already the firmware update 7.55 in August of this year brought down the PSN temporarily.
However, many users are also crossing the line with their criticism. Keep in mind that Sony is certainly working under pressure to resolve the issue. Nevertheless, it would indeed be nice if there were soon an official statement or even a resolution of the problems.
Can I play online with the PS4? Apparently, you can currently play online despite the disruption in social features. In our tests, automatic matchmaking in the Warzone of Call of Duty and Destiny 2 worked without issues.
