Tomorrow, October 13 it will be here. Sony will release the virtual reality headset PlayStation VR. Many are now wondering if there will also be a PS-VR bundle at launch.
No matter where you look, PlayStation VR is currently sold out almost everywhere, even on Amazon. With a bit of luck, you might still be able to get the VR headset in stores tomorrow. On eBay, the devices are currently being offered for more than the retail price. So it’s not easy to get a headset at the moment. Sony announced that they intend to deliver all pre-orders by the end of this year if possible – but without guarantee.
Will there be a bundle?
Many gamers are now wondering if there might be a bundle. The situation currently looks like Sony is indeed planning such a bundle. This includes the headset plus the PlayStation camera in the new 2016 version. This package is supposed to cost 449 euros and will be available in stores “soon”. A specific date is not yet set for Germany. Other countries will receive the bundle starting tomorrow. Currently, it is not possible to pre-order it either. A package consisting of PlayStation 4 plus PlayStation VR is currently not planned. Here, one has to see if perhaps individual retailers will assemble and offer such a bundle themselves.
What would be interesting for many would be a bundle consisting of headset, camera, and Move controllers, as these are supposed to make the controls easier in some games or at least make it more “immersive”. However, such a thing is also not planned. Sony has a clear opinion on such bundles. They do not want customers to have to buy products multiple times through such packages. Many PS4 owners would, for example, already have a PlayStation camera at home and therefore would not want to opt for a bundle. Therefore, they prefer to sell the individual items separately.
Bundle fans will have to wait
With the announcement of the package consisting of PlayStation VR and camera, they at least backtracked a bit here. However, those who want this bundle will still have to be patient, as it is currently unclear when it will hit the market here. Sony presumably wants to deliver all regular pre-orders first before they deal with the package.
