Diablo III: Eternal Collection – The complete Diablo 3 experience
What does Diablo 3 offer on consoles? With Diablo 3 for the PS3 and Xbox 360, Blizzard succeeded in 2013 in adapting the mouse-keyboard control of the PC version to the controllers of consoles. Additionally, a fast-paced four-player co-op mode was added to the “hack & slash” experience.
With the “Ultimate Evil Edition”, the game was also released in 2014 for the PS4 and Xbox One. In addition to the visually enhanced main game, the expansion “Reaper of Souls” and a large amount of new content were included.
Since then, the Diablo experience for PC and consoles has been the same in terms of content. The patch cycle has also been aligned – so the game has remained cross-platform at the same level since then. The popular seasons (limited-time leaderboard games) and the Necromancer character expansion can also be played on all platforms.
What is the Eternal Collection? The Diablo III: Eternal Collection was released on June 27, 2017, as a complete collection of all previously released Diablo 3 content for the PS4 and Xbox One. The Eternal Collection includes:
- Diablo 3
- Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls
- Diablo 3: Return of the Necromancer

What is it about?
Two decades have passed since the demonic inhabitants Diablo, Mephisto, and Baal roamed the world of Sanctuary in a tide of destruction to subjugate humanity to unholy slavery.
When Deckard Cain returns to the ruins of the Cathedral of Tristram to look for new signs of evil, a comet crashes down from the sky and strikes exactly where Diablo once entered the world. The comet bears a dark omen in its fiery essence and calls upon the players to defend the mortal world against the rising forces of the Burning Hells – and the fallen of the High Heavens themselves.

As a Barbarian, Witch Doctor, Demon Hunter, Monk, Sorceress, Crusader, or Necromancer, you will battle against the undead, demons, and the Lord of Hell Diablo himself. Even in the third part of the series, the hunt for increasingly powerful equipment and more experience points continues. Both make your hero progressively stronger and allow you to defeat stronger opponents.
How is it played?
It is played in the familiar isometric perspective – but with a controller. The special feature of the console version of Diablo 3 is that you can use a local co-op multiplayer mode. This feature is not available in this form for PC.

If one of the players falls behind, they are teleported to the others. The only small drawback: If one player opens their inventory, all others have to wait.
Who is the game for?
- Generally for fans of the hack & slash genre
- For anyone who loves fast, action-packed fights
- For players who enjoy intuitive and precise controller controls
- For anyone who loves couch co-op
Who should rather stay away from it
- Anyone who does not like the fast-paced and action-packed gameplay of hack & slays
- Players who have always wondered about friends and acquaintances who have fallen under the lure of the loot spiral
