A sale featuring the highlights of PlayStation 4 has started in the PS Store before the PS5 launches in November. Ghost of Tsushima is also included in the offer.
What kind of sale is this? The new sale in the PS Store is called “Games of a Generation.” The focus is on highlights that have been released on PlayStation 4 in recent years. Ghost of Tsushima is also included, and you can save on it as well.
How long do the offers last? The offers in the store started on September 30th and will last until October 15th, 2020. You have two weeks to check out the offers.
Ghost of Tsushima
Genre: Action | Developer: Sucker Punch Productions LLC | Release Date: July 17, 2020 | Model: Buy-to-Play | Price Range (according to Geizhals.de): €44.95 – €69.99
What is Ghost of Tsushima? This game is a PS4-exclusive action game. You take on the role of Jin Sakai, the last samurai on the island of Tsushima, who wants to free the island from Mongol domination. The combat system is mainly based on sword fighting and other historical weapons from the 13th century.
Why is this game worth it? The story is interestingly told with many exciting characters, and the developers have incorporated a lot of historical background. Fans of Japanese mythology will particularly enjoy this. The game also offers beautiful landscapes, great lighting and shadow effects, and varied tasks. The German localization is also well done. The save feature is fair and there are three difficulty levels that can be switched at any time.
The game primarily focuses on sword combat, and it works surprisingly well: The combat system is intuitive with blocks, counters, and attacks, and there’s a well-executed duel mode with one-hit chances. However, fighting is not mandatory, as the game offers enough options to approach situations differently. There are useful stealth abilities that you can use to distract and take down enemies.
Starting in fall 2020, the game will receive a cooperative multiplayer expansion called Ghost of Tsushima: Legends – free for all owners of the game.
What is less successful: The fights can sometimes feel chaotic since you cannot lock onto enemies, and thus you can hit opponents randomly. The opponent AI is also only mediocre, and aside from the exciting story, there are some annoying collection tasks that feel forced. Due to the weak AI, infiltration of enemy camps feels a bit too easy.
Who is this game suitable for? If you are looking for a game that not only offers an exciting story but also includes a lot of historically accurate background, you should check out Ghost of Tsushima. Likewise, those who prefer a slower combat pace over fast combos should also take a look at this exclusive title.
Where can you buy the game? Currently, the game is on sale in the PS Store:
- Ghost of Tsushima in the PS Store for €55.29 (€69.99), you save 21%.
- Ghost of Tsushima: Digital Deluxe Edition in the PS Store for €64.79 (€79.99), you save 19%.
The Witcher 3
Genre: Role-Playing Game | Developer: CD Project Red | Release Date: May 19, 2015 | Model: Buy2Play | Price Range (according to Geizhals.de): €18.99 – €66.00
What is The Witcher 3? In Witcher 3, you take on the role of the Witcher Geralt of Rivia and experience adventures in a vast fantasy world. From cities to wild landscapes to “Viking” islands, it’s all included.
Why is this game worth it: The Witcher 3 offers a superbly voiced story, combined with fitting music and an enjoyable combat system. Especially fans of the previous games or the books will find joy here. The game also offers plenty to do outside of the main quest. This includes countless side quests and a lively, varied game world that rewards players who also venture off the beaten path.
What is not so successful: The Witcher 3 is visually beautiful on PlayStation 4, but its performance demands are noticeable. Occasionally, there are frame drops, and loading times can also be quite lengthy.
Who is this game suitable for? This game is wholeheartedly recommended for any role-player seeking a strong story or interesting characters. In terms of gameplay, The Witcher 3 is certainly one of the best role-playing games in recent years.
Where can you buy The Witcher 3? Currently, only the standard edition of The Witcher 3 is on sale:
- The Witcher 3 in the PS Store for €8.99 (
€29.99), you save 70%.

Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order Deluxe Edition
Genre: Action-Adventure | Developer: Respawn Entertainment | Release Date: November 15, 2019 | Model: Buy-to-Play | Price Range (according to Geizhals): €48.89 – €86
What is Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order? The story takes place between Episodes 3 and 4. You take on the role of Jedi apprentice Cal Kestis, who survived Order 66. Now you are on the run from the Galactic Empire.
Why is this game worth it: Respawn Entertainment has done great work in game design: The worlds become more complex as the game progresses. This means you take longer to explore since the worlds grow not only horizontally but also vertically. It feels good due to the successful design. The entire mix of fighting and exploration is balanced, and the coherent design is further enhanced by the great sound and voice backdrop, which is also very enjoyable in German. The enemies are variably designed, and the game offers 4 different difficulty levels.
What is less successful: The graphics look great, but the framerate on the PS4 (Pro) can vary greatly. Due to the very linear story, the game also offers little replay value. It is also a pity that protagonist Cal does not develop much character depth during the game. Additionally, it is annoying that you constantly have to return to old areas that you have already visited.
For whom is this game worth it? Do you like action games with a fast combat system that have a Star Wars flair? Then you should check out Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order.
Where can you buy Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order? Currently, the base game is on sale in the PS Store. The Deluxe Edition is not on sale:
- Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order in the PS Store for €34.99 (€69.99), you save 50%.
Far Cry: New Dawn
Genre: First-Person Shooter | Developer: Ubisoft Montreal | Release Date: February 15, 2019 | Model: Buy2Play | Price Range (via Geizhals.de): €10.08 – €39.98
What is Far Cry New Dawn? Far Cry New Dawn is a first-person shooter with open-world elements and, like its predecessor, takes place in the fictional U.S. state of Montana in Hope County. This time, however, a nuclear war has ravaged the world, and it looks completely different. You fight against the twin sisters Mickey and Lou.
In New Dawn, there are plenty of references to the predecessor, and the story continues from the previous one. Those who haven’t played Far Cry 5 may not understand the plot fully. Unlike other games like Metro and the like, the post-apocalypse is colorful and cheerful.
Why is this game worth it: Far Cry New Dawn embraces the post-apocalypse, but unlike other genre representatives, it doesn’t take itself too seriously:
The post-apocalypse is colorful and portrayed with bright colors, the opponents are wonderfully absurd, and the story is entertaining due to the quirky characters. Like its predecessors, New Dawn provides good arcade fun and offers plenty to discover outside the missions.
What is less successful: In terms of gameplay, Far Cry New Dawn offers little new. The AI of the enemies and your companions is at best average, the missions can be somewhat uninspired, and technically, things don’t always run smoothly. Additionally, the story is only fully understandable for those who have played Far Cry 5.
Who is this game suitable for? Did you like the predecessor or do you generally enjoy arcade-like fun shooter action that doesn’t take itself too seriously? Then you should check out Far Cry New Dawn. If you like open-world games from Ubisoft, you will also enjoy it.
Where can you buy the game? Currently, the game is on sale in the PS Store:
- Far Cry New Dawn in the PS Store for €14.84 (
€44.99), you save 67%.
Stellaris: Console Edition – Standard Edition
Genre: Real-Time Strategy | Developer: Paradox Development Studio | Release Date: May 9, 2016 | Model: Buy2Play | Price Range (according to Geizhals.de): €24.95 – €65.99
What is Stellaris? Stellaris is a 4X global real-time strategy game. This means you take care of the needs of your empire, which you gradually build in space. You colonize planets, use diplomacy, research new technologies, or build fleets to defend against pirates or other empires or to subjugate them. Gameplay-wise, Stellaris is very complex like all Paradox games and requires quite some learning time.
Why is this game worth it: Stellaris is incredibly complex and offers a lot to do. It starts with the extensive creation of species and becomes increasingly complex as you gain control over more planets. You can conveniently later merge multiple star systems into a territory, which makes gameplay easier.
The slow expansion and management of your empire is a lot of fun, and you will be engaged for a long time. In addition, there is an extensive technology tree and diplomacy with other species, random events, and many other tasks such as elections that you must manage. Like every Paradox strategy game, Stellaris is incredibly complex and offers a lot to keep you busy.
What is less successful: The game offers a dry presentation; most events occur through menus and text. Much more annoying is the cumbersome gamepad control. This isn’t due to the gamepad itself, but rather the many menus. While on PC, you can quickly hover over spaceships or planets with a mouse to retrieve information, here you have to awkwardly select everything with the controller.
The developer also enlarged the user interface for the TV screen, which makes the game less clear. This costs time and patience. While the PC version supports mods, they are not supported on consoles. Additionally, the world size on PlayStation is limited to 600 stars (PC: 1000 stars).
Who is this game suitable for? Do you love games like Master of Orion, Endless Space, or Sins of a Solar Empire? Then check out Stellaris. Because this game also relies on traditional 4X elements set in space and is, unlike other cool representatives of the genre, also available on PS4. Like other heavyweight strategy titles from Paradox, Stellaris is not very accessible, so bring time to familiarize yourself with its mechanics.
Where can you buy Stellaris: Console Edition? Currently, both the Standard and Deluxe Editions are on sale in the PS Store. The Deluxe Edition includes not only the base game but also the DLCs Plantoids Species Pack, Leviathans Story Pack, and the Utopia add-on.
- Stellaris: Console Edition – Standard Edition in the PS Store for €15.99 (
€39.99), you save 60%. - Stellaris: Console Edition – Deluxe Edition in the PS Store for €23.99 (
€59.99), you save 60%.
Sniper Elite V2 Remastered
Genre: First-Person Shooter | Developer: Rebellion | Release Date: May 14, 2019 | Model: Buy2Play | Price Range (according to Geizhals.de): €20.71 – €55.51
What is Sniper Elite V2 Remastered? In this game, you are playing as Karl Fairburne in war-torn Berlin. World War II is only weeks away from its end, and your task is to eliminate members of a Nazi rocket program. You fight your way through 11 missions.
Why is this game worth it: Even today, the game provides an interesting story set in war-torn Berlin. The individual missions are designed in a way that allows you to complete the level in various ways. This adds to motivation. The successful co-op mode is also enjoyable, allowing you to fight through Berlin with a partner, which increases replay value. Pursuing scattered collectibles like gold bars is also motivating.
The remastered version not only offers a graphics update but also includes a photo mode and a new multiplayer. Additionally, there are seven new characters from Zombie Army Trilogy that you can play with as a nice bonus.
What is less successful: The enemy AI is still quite dumb even in the remastered version, as they don’t seem to take cover when under fire. The levels also feel somewhat lifeless, and the gameplay becomes repetitive over time. Despite the graphical overhaul, you can still see the age of the game. The individual levels appear quite static and lifeless, likely due to the setting in war-torn Berlin.
Who is this game suitable for? Are you in search of an interesting story set in war-torn Berlin and enjoy solid shooter gameplay combined with a nice co-op mode? Then you should check out this game.
