Payday 2 Crime Wave Edition
Genre: First-Person Shooter | Developer: Overkill Software | Platform: PC, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch | Release Date: August 13/14, 2013 | Model: Buy2Play | Price Trend (via Geizhals.de): €38.95
What is Payday 2? Payday 2 is a first-person shooter where you rob banks or other locations together with other players. The missions themselves are disconnected, and the shooting fun is at the forefront.
Why the game is worth it: If you enjoy fun and uncomplicated action, you should take a look at Payday 2. It’s worth it alone, but also with friends. You can team up with up to four players to carry out heists and live out your criminal side.
The soundtrack is great, and there are different ways to solve most missions.

What is less successful: The Payday 2 Crime Wave Edition is tailored specifically for the PS4. Nevertheless, the game is not as visually appealing as on PC. The textures are less detailed, and the models are rough and lack depth.
The AI also behaves somewhat stupidly at times. Especially if you want to play with AI friends, you will need a lot of patience.
Who is the game suitable for? If you’re looking for a fun co-op shooter that revolves around robbing banks and similar locations while focusing on fun action, you should check out Payday 2.
Where can you buy the game? Currently, the game is on offer in the PS Store. By the way, the Crime Wave Edition includes all DLCs, which consist of characters and heists.
- Payday Crime Wave Edition in the PS Store for 7.99 (49.99), you save 85%.
The Division 2
Genre: MMO Shooter | Developer: Ubisoft | Release Date: March 15, 2019 | Model: Buy2Play | Price Trend (via Geizhals.de): €10.99 – €29.99
What is The Division 2? The Division 2 is a shared-world online shooter and the direct sequel to Tom Clancy’s The Division. The game uses a third-person perspective. Like in the predecessor, you’ll take on the role of an agent and fight your way through Washington D.C., which is also affected by the virus outbreak.
The gameplay is in the third-person perspective and plays like a loot shooter. The game features a cover system and also focuses more on RPG elements.
Why the game is worth it: If you enjoyed the predecessor The Division 1, you will also enjoy The Division 2. The game entertains with both PvE and PvP elements: Many missions can be completed either solo or cooperatively, and now there are also raids for 8 players. Additionally, there is a standalone PvP area “Conflict”, which offers various multiplayer modes.
There is also the Dark Zone, which combines PvP and PvE. Here you fight against AI opponents and search for suitable items. You also defend yourself against human players who are after the same loot.
What is less successful: The game still suffers from some bugs. Especially after the launch of the new expansion Warlords of New York, many users complained about issues. While the addon has delivered many new contents, some still complain about a lack of endgame content. Additionally, there are still some balance issues, on which Ubisoft is working.
Who is the game suitable for? If you enjoy a third-person shooter with attractive graphics, challenging co-op gameplay, RPG elements, and a hefty dose of grind, then you should check out The Division 2. Even as a solo player, you will have a good time in the capital of the USA.
Where can you buy the game? The game is currently on offer in the PS Store:
- The Division 2 in the PS Store for €10.00 (29.99 €), you save 66%.
Far Cry: New Dawn
Genre: First-Person Shooter | Developer: Ubisoft Montreal | Release Date: February 15, 2019 | Model: Buy2Play | Price Trend (via Geizhals.de): €10.08 – €39.98
What is Far Cry New Dawn? Far Cry New Dawn is a first-person shooter with open-world elements and, like its predecessor, takes place in the fictional US state of Montana in Hope County. This time, however, a nuclear war has devastated the world and it looks completely different. You fight against the twin sisters Mickey and Lou.
In New Dawn, there are plenty of references to the predecessor, and the story also connects to it. If you haven’t played Far Cry 5, you won’t understand the plot very well. Unlike other games like Metro, the post-apocalypse is very colorful.
Why the game is worth it: Far Cry New Dawn focuses on the post-apocalypse, but unlike many of its genre counterparts, it doesn’t take itself too seriously:
The post-apocalypse is colorful and filled with bright colors, the enemies are delightfully quirky, and the story is entertaining due to the bizarre characters. Like its predecessors, New Dawn focuses on good arcade fun and offers plenty to discover outside of missions.
What is less successful: Gameplay-wise, Far Cry New Dawn offers little new. The AI of enemies and your companions is at best mediocre, the missions are sometimes uninspired, and technically, not everything runs smoothly. The story is only fully understandable for those who have also played Far Cry 5.
Who is the game suitable for? If you liked the predecessor or enjoy arcade-style fun shooter action that doesn’t take itself too seriously, you should take a look at Far Cry New Dawn. If you like open-world games from Ubisoft, you will also enjoy this game.
Where can you buy the game? Currently, the game is on offer in the PS Store:
- Far Cry: New Dawn in the PS Store for €14.99 (
€44.99), you save 66%.
Killing Floor 2
Genre: First-Person Shooter | Developer: Tripwire Interactive | Release Date: April 21, 2015 | Model: Buy2Play | Price Trend (via Geizhals.de): €10.33 – €38.99
What is Killing Floor 2? Killing Floor 2 is a cooperative first-person shooter in which you fight hordes of zombies. Following a failed experiment by the biotech company Horzine Biotech, the zombie plague has spread across Europe. As a player, you must combat the zombie hordes, while constantly unlocking new weapons and abilities.
Why the game is worth it: The zombie shooter offers fun and chaotic multiplayer battles against masses of enemies. The enemy AI is challenging and well-balanced, and the matches run smoothly. The game features 10 different classes, all of which are useful and well-integrated into the game.

What is less successful: The game does not offer a true single-player mode; instead, you must rely on your teammates (which isn’t necessarily a bad thing). It’s a pity that there is no real story mode and limited variety in the enemies. Overall, there are only two bosses. Additionally frustrating: Many specializations must be painstakingly unlocked. The PvP mode is also poorly balanced.
Who is the game suitable for? If you enjoyed Left 4 Dead or the horde mode of Gears 5, you will likely find good entertainment in Killing Floor 2. If you’re looking for a cooperative zombie shooter and can do without a story, you should also consider Killing Floor 2.
Where can you buy the game? The game is currently on offer in the PS Store:
- Killing Floor 2 in the PS Store for €9.89 (29.99 €), you save 67%.
Wolfenstein: The New Order
Genre: First-Person Shooter | Developer: MachineGames | Release Date: May 20, 2014| Model: Buy2Play | Price Trend (via Geizhals.de): €14.99 – €34.95
What is Wolfenstein: The New Order? Wolfenstein: The New Order is the sequel to the well-known shooter series. Protagonist B.J. Blazkowicz awakens from a 14-year coma in 1960 and discovers that the world has been taken over by a fascist regime. Blazkowicz sets out to change that. In his battle against the regime, he travels to various locations such as Berlin, London, or Croatia, and at one point, you find yourself in a Polish prison.
Why the game is worth it: The game offers a long campaign of around 15 hours and features diverse locations. Additionally, some decisions can impact the overall storyline. While not so significant that it compels you to replay the game, the changes are interesting nonetheless.
The German voice actors are excellent, and the gameplay offers various ways to complete a mission. Advantages or perks develop with your playstyle: If you secretly kill a commander, for example, your perk improves.
What is less successful: The AI frequently experiences annoying glitches, and the game presents many tedious fetch quests, while the melee attacks often feel a bit too powerful. Furthermore, the audio mixing is peculiar. At times, the voice actors are significantly quieter than the loud sound effects, which can be very distracting, but subtitles do help.
Who is the game suitable for? If you enjoy story-driven shooters with a penchant for campy themes and wild ideas, then you should take a look at Wolfenstein: The New Order. The shooter gameplay is compelling and offers good single-player entertainment.
Where can you buy the game? Currently, Wolfenstein: The New Order is on offer in the PS Store:
- Wolfenstein: The New Order in the PS Store for €5.99 (29.99 €), you save 70%.
Wolfenstein: The Old Blood
Genre: First-Person Shooter | Developer: MachineGames | Release Date: May 5, 2015| Model: Buy2Play | Price Trend (via Geizhals.de): €12.99 – €29.99
What is Wolfenstein: The Old Blood? Wolfenstein: The Old Blood is the standalone add-on to The New Order and tells the prequel story. You once again take on the role of B.J. Blazkowicz and fight your way through two different narratives. You don’t need prior knowledge of The New Order.
Why the game is worth it: The game offers a series of successful and varied locations. The maps also provide enough opportunities and alternative routes, as well as some hiding spots. Additionally, the game gives you a fantastic finale that excellently leads into The New Order. Also impressive is the extensive playtime: You will spend around 10 hours with The Old Blood.

What is less successful: The enemy AI is only mediocre, and the game’s introduction is also weak. The difficulty level sometimes fluctuates significantly between missions, and unlike The New Order, there are also some technical issues, such as graphical pop-ins and clunky character animations.
Who is the game suitable for? If you’ve played The New Order and need more outrageous shooter material, you should also check out The Old Blood. If you haven’t played The New Order yet, The Old Blood offers a good introduction to the alternative history after World War II.
Where can you buy the game? Currently, the game is on offer in the PS Store:
- Wolfenstein: The Old Blood in the PS Store for €5.99 (19.99 €), you save 70%.
Metro Redux and Metro Last Light Redux
Genre: First-Person Shooter | Developer: 4A Games | Release Date: August 29, 2014, and May 5, 2015 | Model: Buy2Play | Price Trend (via Geizhals.de): €11.50 – €33.00
What is Metro Redux? Here we introduce two games: both Metro 2033 from 2010 and Metro: Last Light from 2014. Both games have been technically overhauled by developer 4A Games in the Redux edition and have also received content additions. However, gameplay remains the tried-and-true shooter gameplay.
Why the games are worth it: The two shooters, Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light, both provide you with impressive shooter settings. The story set in the Moscow underground is compelling and features atmospheric music as well as great German voice acting. If you want, you can also switch to the English or Russian voice actors. The games provide a good mix of stealth and action.

What is less successful: The Redux version mainly offers technical upgrades, making the purchase only worthwhile for those of you who do not already own the old games. While the developers have updated the graphics and engine, the animations appear unnaturally stiff, clumsy, and outdated. Sometimes the difficulty level is unbalanced, but this is eased by frequent automatic saving.
Who is the game suitable for? If you have not played Metro 2033 and Metro Last Light, the Redux edition of both games presents a fair offer that we can recommend to any shooter fan. On the PS4, you can enjoy over 60 FPS. If you’ve already owned the two games, you should consider whether the purchase for just the technical upgrade is truly worthwhile.
Where can you buy the games? The game is currently on offer in the PS Store:
- Metro Redux in the PS Store for €8.99 (
€29.99), you save 70%. - Metro Last Light Redux in the PS Store for €5.99 (
€19.99), you save 70%.
