Death Stranding
Genre: Action-Adventure | Developer: Kojima Productions | Release Date: November 8, 2019 | Model: Buy2Play | Price Range (according to Geizhals.de): €19.95 – €66.99
What is Death Stranding? Death Stranding is an open-world game in which you play as Sam Porter Bridges. He is an apocalyptic courier transporting items like food and medicine to the last survivors of humanity. The game is a walking simulator, meaning you walk a lot and the focus is on traversing the game world rather than combat.
Why Death Stranding is worth it: The game is characterized by its atmosphere: You wander through beautiful, stunning landscapes, and the soundtrack and voiced dialogues greatly enhance the mood. The style is quirky but unique. In which other game do you play as a “postman” carrying precious cargo around? The indirect multiplayer aspect is also cool. With the TCK module, you can build structures in the landscape to help other players or warn them.
What could be better: Despite its beauty and uniqueness, the game can sometimes feel lifeless. This is because you can never enter the cities that you supply. You will never see the people you support. Additionally, the game’s start is relatively slow, and you will only unlock the first real weapons after several hours.
Who is the game suitable for? This game is especially suited for players who are interested in a unique combination of beautiful landscapes, open world, post-apocalyptic atmosphere, and special gameplay and are not primarily focused on combat. Anyone who generally finds walking simulators unappealing should look elsewhere.
Where can you buy Death Stranding? Death Stranding is currently on offer in both standard and Digital Deluxe Edition. The Digital Deluxe Edition includes not only the game but also a complete set of avatars and the soundtrack “Timefall”, as well as other in-game items.
- Death Stranding in the PS Store for €30.09 (
€69.99), you save 57%. - Death Stranding Digital Deluxe Edition in the PS Store for €39.99 (
€79.99), you save 50%.
Days Gone
Genre: 3rd-Person-Shooter | Developer: Bend Studio | Release Date: April 26, 2019 | Model: Buy-to-play | Price Range (according to Geizhals.de): €19.23 – €63.44
What is Days Gone? Days Gone is a post-apocalyptic zombie survival game in an open world. You take on the role of ex-biker Deacon St. John, who has lost his wife Sarah. Days Gone is played from a 3rd-person perspective and takes place in the U.S. state of Oregon, which is overrun by zombie-like creatures (Freakers). You fight through hordes of Freakers and try to survive in the brutal and oppressive game world.
Why the game is worth it: The game captures the atmosphere very well: The game world is destroyed, and resources and stamina are limited. Violence and the law of the strong have driven out humanity, and a well-voiced radio station contributes to this atmosphere. Tactical approaches are often rewarded. Who storms into a village or camp recklessly can quickly find themselves in trouble – either because they run out of ammo or can’t reach their bike. Still, the game offers a fair difficulty level that can also be adjusted.
Besides that, the game offers varied main missions, and the Freakers provide an interesting variation to the standard zombies in other apocalypse scenarios – they mutate differently with age and have various attack patterns. By the way, Deacon’s bike can be upgraded, which is worthwhile and has a noticeable effect. With over 30 hours of gameplay, you’ll be well occupied.

What could be better: Overall, the story is very predictable and offers little surprises. Now and then, the game also struggles with AI issues, as the opponents sometimes respond poorly or hardly at all to the player. Additionally, the developer leaves a lot of potential on the table, as puzzles and tasks could have been made a bit more challenging.
Who is the game suitable for? If you enjoy worlds like The Walking Dead or The Last of Us and are looking for a game that rewards tactical approaches, then you should check out Days Gone.
Where can you buy the game? The game is currently on sale in the PS Store. Both the base game and the Digital Deluxe Edition are available for purchase. The Digital Deluxe Edition offers you, in addition to the base game, a soundtrack, some bike designs, faster access to a skill, and a dynamic design for your PS4 console:
- Days Gone in the PS Store for €20.29 (
€69.99), you save 71%. - Days Gone Digital Deluxe Edition in the PS Store for €29.59 (
€79.99), you save 63%.
Hunt: Showdown
Genre: Shooter | Developer: Crytek | Release Date: February 18, 2020 | Model: Buy2Play
What is Hunt: Showdown? This game is a horror shooter with survival aspects. Several teams of two players each fight demons on the map to gain equipment and skills. The teams also interfere with each other. The game deliberately combines PvE and PvP elements.
Why Hunt: Showdown is worth it: The game skillfully combines fun and tactical shooter gameplay with a dense atmosphere. If you rush in quickly, you’ll quickly meet your demise. Instead, tactics and careful approaches are rewarded, and you should also pay attention to sounds. Additionally, hunting demons and loot provides much depth, and the design of the enemies is impressive. You can embark on the hunt either solo, in pairs, or even in teams of three.
What could be better: The game somewhat shows that it was originally developed for PC. For example, menus are not well optimized for the controller and can be cumbersome to navigate.
Who is the game suitable for? If you are interested in a crisp co-op shooter that rewards cautious and tactical approaches, you will likely enjoy Hunt: Showdown. However, if you can’t stand horror and PvP elements, you might not have much fun.
Where can you buy Hunt: Showdown? Currently, the normal edition is on sale in the PlayStation Store:
- Hunt: Showdown in the PS Store for €15.19 (
€39.99), you save 62%.
The Witcher 3
Genre: Role-Playing Game | Developer: CD Project Red | Release Date: May 19, 2015 | Model: Buy2Play | Price Range (according to Geizhals.de): €19.95 – €66.00
What is The Witcher 3? In Witcher 3, you take on the role of the witch Geralt of Rivia and experience adventures in a vast fantasy world. Everything from cities to wild landscapes to “Viking” islands is included.
Why the game is worth it: The Witcher 3 offers a top-notch narrated story, combined with great music and a dynamic combat system. Fans of the previous games or the books will particularly enjoy this. Also, aside from the main quest, there is a ton to do in the game. This includes countless quests and tasks, a lively and varied game world, and a crafting system.
What is not so good: The Witcher 3 is stunning on the PlayStation 4, but the performance demands are quite noticeable. Occasionally, there are frame drops, and loading times can sometimes be very long.
For whom is The Witcher 3 suitable? The game is highly recommended for any role-player looking for a strong story or interesting characters. Gameplay-wise, The Witcher 3 surely hides one of the best role-playing games of the last few years.
Where can you buy The Witcher 3? Currently, the Game of the Year Edition of The Witcher 3 is on sale. All story add-ons released for the base game are included:
- The Witcher 3 Game of the Year Edition in the PS Store for €14.99 (
€49.99), you save 70%.
Dragon Age Inquisition Digital Deluxe Edition
Genre: Role-Playing Game | Developer: BioWare | Release Date: November 20, 2014 | Model: Buy2Play
What is Dragon Age Inquisition? Dragon Age Inquisition is a role-playing game that follows in the footsteps of its successful predecessors. It is a party role-playing game: Alongside your freely created protagonist, you control a group of up to four characters. The battles are action-packed but can be paused at any time. The story takes place several years after the events of Dragon Age 2. For the first time, Inquisition also features an open game world rather than a linear level design like Dragon Age 2.
Why the game is worth it: Dragon Age Inquisition offers an open game world for the first time in the series, which is immediately noticeable. The world is huge and extensive, with plenty to do and collect. Everywhere, there are tasks to complete. The landscapes are beautiful to behold and offer a lot of variety.
With four races and three classes, Dragon Age offers plenty of choices for role-players. The story is fully voiced, including your main character. The companions who join you in the story offer side quests and even romances if you spend enough time with them. Some choices also have long-term effects on the Inquisition and your companions. So, it is worthwhile to play the game again.

What could be better: The game world offers plenty of standard tasks alongside exciting quests and missions. For boring delivery tasks, you run across the map, and there are (needlessly) many collectible tasks scattered all over the maps. At the start, it is still motivating to finish puzzles or missions; however, as you progress, it can become a bit too much.
Also unfortunate: The character plays a significant role within the story, but the reactions of the surrounding people never give you the feeling that you hold an important place in society. This makes the game world feel somewhat sterile and lifeless. Games like Assassin’s Creed offer large game worlds but feel much more alive.
For whom is Dragon Age: Inquisition worth it? Dragon Age: Inquisition is especially worthwhile for players who enjoyed Dragon Age 2. While the game shifts from the direction of Dragon Age 2, it remains action-oriented. Inquisition may not reach the heights of Dragon Age 1, but it is a great role-playing game. And with the PS5, Dragon Age 4 may soon come.
Where can you buy Dragon Age: Inquisition? Currently, the Digital Deluxe Edition is available in the PlayStation Store.
- Dragon Age: Inquisition Digital Deluxe Edition in the PS Store for €7.49 (
€29.99), you save 75%.
Alien: Isolation
Genre: Action | Developer: Creative Assembly | Release Date: October 7, 2014 | Model: Buy2Play
What is Alien: Isolation? Alien: Isolation is a survival game that connects to the old Alien games. You play as Amanda Ripley and fight for survival against the titular Alien on the abandoned space station Sevastopol.
Why the game is worth it: Alien Isolation captures a dense and oppressive atmosphere very well in a game. It has a great soundscape and an excellent design of the abandoned space station. Every single noise during the hunt with the Alien takes on its own significance and keeps the player on edge. The optional camera function also shows its effects. If you pair the game with your camera, your movements and sounds are transferred into the game – making it incredibly exciting and the cat-and-mouse game with the Alien even more challenging.
What could be better: On PlayStation 4, the technology causes problems. Apart from the cutscenes, which can sometimes run very poorly, the annoying long loading times are particularly bothersome. Bugs and other technical inconsistencies also detract from the overall picture. The recycling of previously visited locations becomes annoying after a while. The game can also be frustrating at times.
Who is the game suitable for? Alien: Isolation is especially worthwhile for players who enjoy horror games or are looking for a good adaptation of the Alien series. Players looking for games with a dense atmosphere will also find exciting entertainment with Alien: Isolation.
Why should everyone play the game? The cat-and-mouse game with the Alien remains a gripping and exciting affair despite its age. Additionally, it serves as a fitting alternative to the Alien movies.
Where can you buy Alien: Isolation? Currently, the collection is on offer. This includes not only the base game but also 7 DLC contents, including the two story packs “Last Survivor” and “Crew expendable” and 5 additional survival packs: In the survival missions, one must complete short level sections under certain conditions. However, this is more of a nice addition rather than a must-buy:
- Alien: Isolation Collection in the PS Store for €10.99 (
€54.99), you save 80%.
