PS Plus on PS4 and PS5 will be significantly more expensive in a few days – This is how much you will have to pay from September

PS Plus is the subscription service on the PS4 and PS5. However, it will become significantly more expensive starting in early September. MeinMMO explains what you need to know.

Sony is increasing the prices for its subscription service on the PS4 and PS5 starting in September 2023. All three subscription models are affected.

Starting in September, you will pay up to 30 euros more per year for your “PS Plus” subscription

What do the new prices look like? The changes affect all three subscription models of PS Plus, namely PS Plus Essential, Extra, and Premium (via blog.playstation.com):

• PlayStation Plus Essential costs 71.99 euros for 12 months (previously 59.99 euros).
• PlayStation Plus Extra costs 125.99 euros for 12 months (previously 99.99 euros).
• PlayStation Plus Premium costs 151.99 euros for 12 months (previously 119.99 euros).

For the cheapest subscription, an additional 12 euros per year are required, while for the most expensive subscription (Premium), you will have to pay an additional 32 euros per year.

When do prices increase? The new prices for PS Plus take effect from September 6, 2023. Until then, the old prices apply. If you extend your subscription before September 6, 2023, you will still pay the old price.

Do I have to pay more right away? No, if your current annual subscription is still active, for example, because you took advantage of a Prime Day offer, then nothing will change for you for the time being. The new prices will take effect for you as soon as your subscription renews and you have to pay again.

What does not change? The prices for the monthly and 3-month subscriptions of PS Plus will not change. If you are already paying monthly for PS Plus, then nothing will change for you. However, compared to the annual subscription, the monthly subscription is still somewhat more expensive.

The benefits of the different subscription tiers remain the same. You will still receive your three free games with PS Plus Essential and can access a comprehensive library of games with Extra and Plus.
