The Last Guardian
Genre: Action-Adventure | Developer: Team ICO | Release Date: December 7, 2016 | Model: Buy-to-play
What speaks for it: The Last Guardian is a title that was released exclusively for PlayStation 4 back then. Many also see The Last Guardian as a spiritual successor to Shadow of the Colossus, which comes from Fumito Ueda, who is also responsible for The Last Guardian.
With PS Plus, Sony could now market an exciting exclusive, also hinting at what fans could expect in the future with the PS5. Reddit user Darragh_McG shares a similar view, writing:

I think they will push Sony exclusives more in the coming months, as they will be free for PS5 in November. God of War will be released next month [November].

Watch Dogs 2

What speaks for it: Just like in September 2020, Watch Dogs 2 also comes back on our list for October. The reason is simple, as Watch Dogs: Legion will be released on October 29, 2020, the successor to Watch Dogs 2. A good opportunity for Sony and Ubisoft to allow players to play the predecessor extensively.
Ubisoft had given away Watch Dogs 2 for free on PC this year and otherwise, the action game only costs around 15 Euros and is regularly on sale. Players might find it worthwhile to take a look, also thanks to its exciting multiplayer mode.
Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens

What speaks for it: At the beginning of October, the action game Star Wars: Squadrons from Electronic Arts will start. Why not also pair it with a Star Wars game for PS Plus? Crash Bandicoot Trilogy

A scary horror game
What speaks for it: October is known as the month for Halloween and all sorts of creepy figures. So why not a game that fits this theme? Reddit user Lukozade2507 writes:

They [Sony] tend to give away a horror game (Friday The 13th, Amnesia: Collection, Resident Evil Remake) or a horror-themed game (like The Last Of Us), so I think that this will also be the case this year. My guess is that they will release the announced sequel to RE7.
