Sony recently announced the PS Plus free games for March 2021 with a two-day delay. The games are now available for download. In addition to the already known Destruction AllStars (PS5), PlayStation Plus subscribers can look forward to 4 free monthly games in the new lineup.
These are the PS Plus games for March 2021: If you have an active PS Plus subscription, you can now look forward to up to 4 fresh free titles in February as part of PlayStation Plus. Depending on whether you own a PS4 or a PlayStation 5, you will receive this time:
- Remnant: From the Ashes (PS4, base game) – A co-op shooter with various classes and abilities
- Final Fantasy 7 Remake (PS4, base game) – A remake of the RPG classic from 1997
- Farpoint (PS VR, base game) – A space shooter
- Maquette (PS5, release directly in PS Plus) – A puzzle adventure that celebrates its release on March 2
- Destruction AllStars (PS5 only, base game) – a fighting game with vehicles
Destruction AllStars has been available since February.
By the way, you can easily play the pure PS4 titles on your PS5 via the backward compatibility feature.

When does the free download start in the PS Store? As a subscriber, you can download the new PS Plus games from now on (March 2, 2021) in the PlayStation Store.
Remnant: From the Ashes (PS4)
What is Remnant: From the Ashes? This shooter from 2019 drops you into a post-apocalyptic world. “The Seed” has overrun the Earth, and the last surviving humans are waging a relentless fight for survival from their hideouts.
You travel alone or with up to two players through various worlds to destroy the Seed. You’ll face not only hordes of monsters but also gigantic boss opponents. It’s crucial to always find the weak points of the enemies to defeat them.
You should check out Remnant if you are into post-apocalyptic shooters that offer an exciting story and really tough boss battles. The difficulty is said to be comparable to Dark Souls.
MeinMMO author Benedict Grothaus has played the shooter extensively and summarized his experiences here: Damn, I played Remnant until 4 AM and almost missed work.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake (PS4)
What is Final Fantasy 7? This single-player RPG is considered one of the most popular entries in the series and was responsible for Final Fantasy’s mainstream breakthrough. Therefore, it was remade in 2020.
The story revolves around a former member of the elite unit SOLDIER named Cloud Strife. Together with his friends, he fights against the greedy mega-corporation Shinra, which extracts the planet’s life force with its reactors.
You enter a world resembling a near-future science fiction. The events all take place in the city of Midgar. There you complete various main and side quests while experiencing battles that have been reworked for the remake. Instead of turn-based and tactical combat, it is now much more action-oriented. Additionally, you must position yourself correctly when facing larger opponents.
You should check out Final Fantasy 7 if you want to experience a beautiful story in the Final Fantasy universe and can handle a game that develops quite slowly. Characters that are initially annoying can sometimes take time to win you over. Furthermore, the remake is released in multiple episodes, so while the story is complete in itself, it has a significant cliffhanger.
Farpoint (PS VR)
What is Farpoint? This is a space shooter that can be played entirely in VR. As an unaware and nameless shuttle pilot, you are to pick up the two scientists Dr. Tyson and Dr. Moon from the Pilgrim space station.
Along the way, you fight your way through a hostile environment with your rifle and battle a variety of monsters. The game is particularly impressive with its music and ambient sounds, which create a great sense of isolation.
You should check out Farpoint if you’re interested in a VR shooter in an alien world and don’t place much value on a story and challenging boss battles. Both have been criticized in the review by our colleagues at GamePro. The game received an overall score of 78.
The aim controller is said to be a must-have, as it significantly enhances the VR experience. Those who lack the appropriate hardware can theoretically also play the game with the DualShock 4 controller.
Maquette (PS5)
What is Maquette? This new title is a puzzle adventure with a very special twist. Objects change their size depending on how you position yourself relative to them.
If you position yourself in the center of the world, you become huge and everything around you appears small. The further away things are, the larger they become.
The world resembles the works of M. C. Escher, who created the Penrose staircase, which has no beginning and no end, and other “impossible figures”.
You should check out Maquette if you’re a fan of puzzle adventures and have no problem with the first-person perspective. You can expect a game that requires you to solve puzzles through crazy means while experiencing a love story at the same time.
Destruction AllStars (PS5 – previously playable in February)
What is Destruction AllStars? Destruction AllStars is essentially a kind of fighting game with cars, focusing on multiplayer. The title has not yet been released and will celebrate its launch with the PS Plus release.
The game revolves around 16 characters, the titular Destruction AllStars, along with their cool rides. The stars compete in a spectacularly staged sports event in an arena. There they use their vehicles, along with abilities, tactics, and timing, to take down their opponents. It’s not only about defeating the rivals, but also mastering the parkour elements of the arena.
The special feature: If you get “ejected” from your vehicle or it gets destroyed, you can continue the competition on foot and even grab a new car – provided you survive until then.
You should check out Destruction AllStars if you enjoy fast and brutal action in the style of Destruction Derby or Carmageddon, but also appreciate a competitive atmosphere like Rocket League in arcade racers. Especially if you like to compete with others, you could have fun with Destruction AllStars.
