Day-one titles are not often added to the PS Plus catalog. Currently, however, users can enjoy a fresh Metroidvania in their game catalog. And the new game for the PS5 looks quite promising.
Which game is it? Tales of Kenzera: ZAU is a new Metroidvania and the first game from the developer studio Surgent Studios. It was published under Electronic Arts and was released yesterday, on April 23, 2024, on Steam, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.
The action platformer has already gained attention in advance with an emotional story. This story is supposed to intensely address the theme of grief and is inspired by the personal experiences of the studio founder. And even though the reviews of the game vary, the story seems to be a strong aspect.
You play as the young shaman Zau, who struggles with his grief after a tragic loss. Under the guidance of the God of Death, Kalunga, he embarks on a journey through the mysterious 2.5D worlds. His goal is to harness the cosmic powers of the sun and moon masks.
The platformer aims not only to impress with an emotional story but also visually with picturesque areas and beautiful scenes.
Who can play the new title? All users who have chosen the Extra or Premium membership have access to the PS Plus game catalog.
While all other new games for PS Plus Extra were already available on April 16, 2024, Tales of Kenzera: ZAU was actually only added yesterday, on the day of its release. It is rare for a game to be added on its own day, and even more so on its actual release day.

So, you have only a little time left to secure the free games from April: PS Plus in April 2024: Sony is gifting you an almost new game from EA – it was released only 7 months ago and cost 80 €
