PS Plus Essential will introduce the new games for October 2024 in a few days. MeinMMO summarizes all known information and explains which games could be included in the free bundle for October 2024. One title is already known.

PS Plus Essential: All games that could come in October 2024
What games are there? Generally, it can be noted that Sony often bundles one strong title with two weaker games for PS Plus. As of now (September 23, 2024), there hasn’t been any title that Sony has previously introduced as a “PS Plus” game. For September 2024, this was the case with Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions.
Atomic Heart
On Reddit, the shooter Atomic Heart is also considered one of the strongest candidates for October 2024. Many assume that the dystopian first-person shooter could be available for free through PS Plus Essential next month. In Atomic Heart, the robots go rogue, who were supposed to live in harmony with humanity.
With PS Plus Premium, you can test the game for free for 2 hours.
Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League
In discussions around PS Plus, one of the biggest flops of the year also comes up: Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League. Financially, Suicide Squad was a huge loss for the developers and has allegedly cost Warner Bros. millions.
Some speculate on reddit that Warner Bros. might make a deal with Sony for PS Plus so that the game at least has a chance on the PS5. On Steam, the game is languishing with only 300 players and is more or less considered dead. At least the game received a Season 2 on July 11, 2024.
With the version for PS Plus, Suicide Squad could get a boost in player numbers once again before Warner Bros. has to write off the game completely.
Dead Island 2
Dead Island 2 is also mentioned by some players. This is partly because Dead Island 2 will receive a huge, free DLC in mid-October:
The Neighborhood Watch is a horde mode, in which you fight for survival with a group of new characters. As a bonus, there will also be a “New Game Plus” mode, which is also supposed to come with Update 6. All good reasons to promote the game for free through PS Plus.
A horror game
In October, Halloween also approaches. Sony likes to combine PS Plus in autumn with a suitable horror title. A year ago, in September 2023, there was Callisto: Protocol with PS Plus.
Many players on reddit and X currently have “Dark Pictures: The Devil In Me” on their betting list: The game is a survival horror action-adventure where you, as a film crew, visit a horror castle and quickly fight for your survival. The game is considered the finale of “The Dark Pictures Anthology.”
Other options for a horror title in October would be Dead Space, Vampire Survivors, or the humorous “Return to Monkey Island.” Or the above-mentioned Dead Island 2, which is already considered a hot candidate for October 2024.
