Before the big CDL Championships at Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, numerous pros warn of a minimap exploit and urge the developers to fix it before the start of the World Championship.
What is the World Championship about? In August, the CDL Champs start at Call of Duty. This is the playoffs of the professional “Call of Duty League” (CDL). It is expected to be the largest event in the history of the “Call of Duty” series.
The event is essentially a world championship, where the best professional players of the Modern Warfare season of Call of Duty will be determined. A total prize pool of $4.6 million is at stake.
Normally, this event is held in a LAN format, but due to restrictions caused by the Corona virus, it will be held online for the first time in 2020.
What does the exploit have to do with it? Currently, the excitement for the tournament is overshadowed for many pros by an exploit that has recently been at the center of the community’s attention – the so-called “start glitch”, which actually has its roots in CoD: Modern Warfare 2.
This exploit apparently also affects the multiplayer of the current Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and creates tense atmosphere and mutual distrust among the pros before the start of the online World Championship.
Numerous prominent CoD players warn of the potential consequences of the glitch on the upcoming tournament and urge the developers to resolve the issue before the event starts.
What exactly does the exploit do? During the kill cam, the start glitch gives players a brief opportunity to see the positions of enemy players on the minimap, thus providing themselves with a tactical advantage.

What are the pros saying about it now? After the exploit has led to mutual distrust and has been widely discussed in recent days, numerous professionals from various CDL teams are demanding that the developers at Infinity Ward fix this exploit before the World Championship starts. After all, it’s about 4.6 million dollars.
Moreover, there are also concerns regarding the integrity of the league, as even if one ignores this exploit – one does not know if the other team is not exploiting it. Pros who take advantage of it should be ashamed.
However, concrete solutions have also been discussed by the pros. For example, it was suggested to disable the kill cam as soon as possible.
What about a fix? It remains to be seen how the developers will respond to the ever-growing criticism ahead of the World Championship on August 20. An official statement has yet to be made.
Although there is still enough time for a hotfix, especially with the major update for the new Season 5, things could still change. However, currently, the glitch is not on the list of issues that the developers are looking at. And some pros are less optimistic and point out how long it took Infinity Ward to nerf the MP5 properly.
