At G-STAR in Korea, a Chinese developer has now announced “Projest Extopia”, an MMOFPS, an MMO shooter. Details are still scarce.
In Korea, the relatively obscure fair G-STAR is taking place. The Korean market has little to do with the West, PC gaming is strong there, consoles are hardly widespread, and numerous MMOs are still being developed.
One of the new announcements there came from Seasun Entertainment, a Chinese developer known primarily for mobile games, who also expanded into the USA in May. They want to develop an MMO first-person shooter on the Unreal Engine 4 with “Projest Extopia”.
Currently, almost nothing is known about the project; the first screenshots hint at a science fiction setting with a splash of horror.
MMO shooters are also on the rise here in the West, thanks to Bungie’s Destiny, and The Division could become a success in early 2016. Of course, Projest Extopia is still quite far from that at the moment.
