What is actually happening with Project W? It was supposed to be the new hit MMORPG from Korea. The creators of Tera and Black Desert announced it.
For Asia fans, “Project W” is like: the “next big thing.” In November 2016, two of the major MMORPG studios in Asia announced that they would develop a “blockbuster MMORPG for PC” together.
The involved parties are:
- Kakao, who are behind Black Desert
- And Bluehole, who are responsible for Tera and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds
Back then it was said about Project W:
- it is supposed to become a blockbuster PC MMORPG
- it is also supposed to be released in North America and Europe
- behind the game are developers from Aion, Tera, and ArcheAge
- it is being developed with the Unreal Engine 3 and is a real eye-catcher
There are no further details about the game. It was mentioned in an interview with the Black Desert people in January 2017, that “Project W” is being further developed and is supposed to come to the West. Kakao will distribute it here. However, there were no details given about it. Since then, there has been silence, and no further information has reached the public.
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is currently the topic at Bluehole, not Project W
Now the site 2p checked what is going on with Project W. Bluehole has meanwhile had the hit “PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds” and it is grabbing all the attention.
Apparently, Project W is still in development, but still in an early stage. Currently, Bluehole is looking for more developers for Project W, such as character artists, combat and balance designers, and many more. This is evident from Bluehole’s career page.
By the way, the title image and the other image are not actually from Project W, but from “Project Exa” – which was supposed to be the further development of Tera and could have been a precursor to Project W. “Project W” is just the working title; in Korea, games that are still in development are sometimes given such mysterious names.
