The classic MMORPG Project Gorgon was unable to reach its goal of 20,000 USD that was to be raised through crowdfunding.
However, this is not a setback for the team. The crowdfunding campaign took place on Indiegogo. Through this platform, the funds are also forwarded to the developers even if the actual goal was not achieved. A total of 17,230 USD was raised, which is just slightly less than the developers originally aimed for.
The funds are enough to continue developing the MMO
Therefore, the team also states that the raised funds are sufficient to cover the ongoing costs for operating the servers as well as further development. There might even be some left over to implement some of the features requested by fans. The team is also looking forward to the coming year. In February, the MMORPG is set to launch on Steam Early Access. According to the developers, the MMORPG is currently in a good state. The foundation has been laid, thanks to the successful Kickstarter campaign in 2015. Since then, they have made significant progress.
Classics have inspired the MMO
Project Gorgon aims to revive the times of classic MMORPGs like Everquest 1 or Asheron’s Call. The game is designed to not run on rails, allowing each player to create their own story. You create your hero during gameplay based on the skills you want to use. There are no predefined classes.
The MMORPG is expected to enter beta next year, with a release planned for late 2017.
