On the weekend of July 23rd and 24th, there were such significant issues in League of Legends that Riot now wants to refund players their money. Numerous bugs plagued the amateur tournament “League of Legends – Shadow Isles Clash.” Riot wants to refund players their entry fees, but that is not enough for those who were successful in the tournament.
What happened in LoL over the weekend?? From July 23rd to 24th, the “League of Legends – Shadow Isles Clash” took place, a special competitive game mode that one must pay to access. It is a kind of “LoL tournament for amateurs”:
- 5 players compete on a team: A team captain takes care of the organization. Teams are classified into different tiers based on their skill level: Signing up with a “valid mobile number” aims to prevent strong players from registering with weak accounts, known as “smurfing.”
- You need a ticket and must therefore pay an entry fee: There are “Basic Tickets” and “Premium Tickets” with better prizes. The tickets can be purchased in the store, where they can be bought with “Blue Essence” (the in-game currency) or Riot Points (the cash currency). A Premium Ticket costs 975 points – about €7.
- The rewards include trophies, orbs, victory points, and capsules: With the victory points, banners can be unlocked.
This is the new champ in LoL, who also causes some problems:
Numerous bugs plague the Clash tournament in LoL
What went wrong? There were major issues in the tournament that disrupted the proceedings. Due to a multitude of glitches and bugs, players missed their games or did not receive their rewards after victories. There are also reports of long waiting times in line.
Players received messages that they could not join a team because they were already in one.
However, the biggest problem for many was: after successes, the rewards did not come.
Riot promises refunds – players want their victory prizes
This is Riot’s response: Executive Producer “Riot Brightmoon” assured on Sunday via Twitter: they are aware of the problems and are currently investigating the cause of the issues. They want to refund players their fees if they were affected by the issues.
How are players reacting? Players are rather dissatisfied with the “refunds.” They mainly want the prizes they earned in the game.
Several players complain that they won Clash but did not receive a reward. That is more important to them than getting their ticket back.
