The German Twitch streamer Kevin “Papaplatte” Teller (27) was a guest on the show “Duell um die Welt” by Joko and Klaas on Pro7. He appeared in episode 2 of season 7, which aired on Saturday night, October 26, 2024. An interpreter was hired for the streamer to ensure that Papaplatte understood the instructions for the stunts that were demanded of him.
That was the idea of the show: In the show, the Twitch streamer Papaplatte was sent to Austria to “make physics cool again.” Although Papaplatte dropped out of his electrical engineering studies, he was deemed by Klaas to be the right person with his “youthful spirit” to make the dusty science appealing to young people.
To ensure that Papaplatte could communicate with the TV team, he was provided with a “bare-midriff bro” who acted as an interpreter for smooth communication.
Papaplatte felt slightly ridiculed, and that was apparently the intent. Because the “physical experiments” were essentially a pretext to torture and humiliate Papaplatte.

How was the translation done? The interpreter, noticeably older than Papaplatte, first greeted him with “Yo Bro, no worries, I’ll take care of the talking” and then asked if Papaplatte had understood the instructions: “Fabi is a bit lost. We’re going to do a quick vibe check to see if you got the real talks from Klaas.”
How did Papaplatte react? He felt, quite rightly, pretty ridiculed. In one segment, he later said into the camera: Klaas probably thinks he only speaks in English slang, while those guys are at most 5 years older than him.
Of course, he could understand the instructions well.
What else happened in the video? Papaplatte was trolled in some experiments, for instance, they let a cake fall on his head to “prove gravity” (“Gravity exists, Bro”) and instructed him to touch an electric fence with wet shoes.
In addition, Papaplatte was put into a pretty silly outfit with physics references and a jab at how streamers heavily market themselves. At that moment, he was already quite annoyed with the translator: “He just repeated what I said and added ‘Bro’ at the end.”
By the end of the experiment, Papaplatte was dangling from a highway bridge, but the translator had already said goodbye: “No front, homie. I’m outta here, you’ll manage the talking with the retired team just fine.”
What was a highlight of the video? In a video instruction for Papaplatte, the video was split in two. In the upper half of the smartphone, Klaas explained the next challenge, while in the lower half, cucumbers were chopped up randomly – like on TikTok.
Klaas explained that this was additional stimulation so that Papaplatte wouldn’t “swipe away.”
However, the cucumbers distracted the Twitch streamer so much that he barely caught the important instructions.
How are the comments? Many comments under the viral video of the show revolve around the interpreter. Fans fully embrace the gag:
- “Unfortunately, I didn’t understand anything when the interpreter left.”
- “Would it be possible to generate subtitles for the last minutes of what Papaplatte said (after the interpreter left)?”
- “Great praise to the interpreter, not many can understand and translate this babble.”
Papaplatte apparently believes that he speaks quite normally. And that the constant references to his allegedly awful language are completely exaggerated. He repeatedly says, when someone teases him: He doesn’t speak like that at all. Only once did he realize that he was overdoing it with the Denglish, when he saw and heard himself in the show “7 vs. Wild” and recognized that he had indeed gone a bit overboard with the Denglish: Twitch streamer wants to pay attention to his language after 7 vs. Wild: “Real talk, sometimes unnecessary, no joke”
