The professional player Timmy “iiTzTimmy” An has set himself a challenge in Apex Legends: to reach the Master rank on the leaderboard with a fresh account. He achieved this – and had to play for 33 hours straight.
Who is the professional? iiTzTimmy is a Twitch streamer and professional player in Apex Legends for the American team Golden Guardians (via liquipedia). The team belongs to the Golden State Warriors, an official NBA basketball team.
iiTzTimmy has participated in numerous smaller tournaments with his team over the years and has been moderately successful. Only a few thousand US dollars have come of it. In Apex Legends, he has made a name for himself by setting the world record for the most damage in a round (via YouTube).
With a new challenge that iiTzTimmy set for himself, he was able to impress even more. In just three hours, he played from the lowest rank “Bronze” to the highest rank “Master” in Apex Legends.
The ranks range from “Bronze” to “Master”. Above Master, there is only the rank “Apex Predator”, which, however, is outside the categories. Predators are the 750 players on each platform with the most leaderboard points.
Ranked games differ from regular matches in that you always compete against players with a similar skill level.
33 hours for the highest rank
Here’s how it went for the professional: iiTzTimmy streamed on Twitch for nearly 33 hours and 40 minutes on March 8 without significant interruptions. During this time, he blasted through dozens of ranked matches.
He started with a fresh account – completely from scratch. Through the initial matches, he was able to plow through the opponents with ease. Of course, he is an experienced, skilled player facing beginners or generally less experienced players.
It took a little longer to reach the Platinum and Diamond divisions. A disconnect even cost him a victory, which set him back briefly. Nevertheless, after a little over 33 hours, he finally managed to reach the Master rank:

How did he do it? iiTzTimmy played the entire time solo, meaning without fixed team members from his pro team. His entire success is thanks to his own skill and that of his random teammates.
For his matches, he primarily relied on Horizon, the legend from Season 7 of Apex Legends. Horizon is an astrophysicist and is classified as an attacker in Apex Legends. She can:
- create a gravity lift that propels players into the air
- better control her descent and suffers no movement penalty when landing
- create a black hole as her Ultimate that pulls enemy players into its center
Her kit makes Horizon a potentially strong legend both on her own and in a team. Combined with other abilities, her Ultimate can easily wipe out entire teams or distract them enough for Horizon to take them down alone.
However, this requires a lot of practice, which iiTzTimmy obviously has, because in our tier list of all legends in Apex Legends, Horizon barely makes it into the B-tier.
