Call of Duty: Vanguard features one of the best killstreaks in the beta, a pack of wild attack dogs that hunt down your opponents and tear them apart with high efficiency. Unfortunately, these creatures are pretty buggy and can sometimes turn on their masters or transform into “dog tornados”.
What’s up with the dogs? In the beta of CoD Vanguard, there is a pack of bloodthirsty attack dogs as a high-tier killstreak. When the “dogs of war” are unleashed, it gets quite intense. The killer doggos then roam the map, tearing apart any poor soul that crosses their path.
Many players complain about the seemingly overpowered doggies, but on top of that, these beasts are pretty buggy as well.
Dogs are fundamentally problematic
Who got affected? The CoD pro Seth “Scump” Abner was playing in Vanguard with his buddies, and as expected, he dominated the lobby hard. Therefore, at the height of his power, he also had the dog killstreak active, and his doggos were racking up kills.
But then the unexpected happened: Scump walked past his supposedly loyal best friends, and suddenly there was a “snap” and Scump was dead. He cursed and raged, but that wasn’t the end of it. Because suddenly his teammates were also screaming in disbelief and frustration.
Because the dogs didn’t just settle for Scump’s corpse, but also feasted on his friends afterwards. “They killed us all!” came the accusing voice from the voice chat.
What other problems do the dogs have? The dogs in Vanguard are apparently buggy and bite the hand that feeds them. But that’s not all. There have also been reports of cases where the dogs, in their joy over their kills, became uncontrollable and turned into a bizarre mix of textures, aptly named “Dognado” by the fans.
Additionally, there are reports of dogs suddenly teleporting up ladders and biting players in the behind up there.
Why are they still OP? Even if the dogs function the way they are intended, many players don’t view them positively. Because they are simply very strong and hard to counter.
The dogs have various advantages that make them OP in the eyes of some players:
- They can take a lot of damage
- They are hard to hit
- They kill almost instantly
- They often appear completely unexpectedly
Especially the fact that in CoD you are usually aiming at the center of the screen while the dogs generally attack from the lower half of the screen makes them hard to counter, and even if you manage to hit a dog, it will likely keep biting and probably kill you.
The killstreak, in its current form, brings neither its users nor opponents much joy and is rather a source of frustration and annoyance. So let’s hope the developers will refine the dogs again.
