Fortnite and Call of Duty: Warzone have been fighting for the throne in the battle royale genre for some time now. The CoD pro Nick “Nickmercs” Kolcheff recently jumped back into Fortnite and explains why it currently holds the lead.
Who is the pro? Nickmercs works as a content creator for the famous FaZe Clan and is one of the largest streamers on Twitch. According to sullygnome , he is among the top 15 channels with the most followers on the platform and is also very active on YouTube. Previously, he was a pro gamer himself.
For several months, he primarily creates content for the battle royale Warzone. Recently, he presented a setup for the CR-56 AMAX that is apparently so good that other pros asked him to delete the video.
Nickmercs built a large part of his fame earlier through Fortnite before switching to Warzone. Now he is playing Fortnite again and points out what makes it better than the Call of Duty competitor.
“Things don’t look so good with Call of Duty”
This is what makes Fortnite better than Warzone: According to Nickmercs, the main advantage of Fortnite over Warzone is the frequency of updates. There is always something new coming, and there is always something in the works:

In contrast, huge updates and map changes are right ahead for Fortnite, even before Christmas.
Nickmercs is referring to the Galactus event in Fortnite starting on December 1. The villain Galactus is expected to appear, and players are already speculating something similar to the black hole from Season 4 with major changes.
The frequency of updates in Fortnite is repeatedly emphasized and praised. However, it apparently comes at a cost. An insider report from April 2019 states that Fortnite updates can only happen under great pressure on the developers.
What’s the reason? Nickmercs does not provide a specific explanation for his observation. One reason could be the release of the new Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. Although it is from a different development studio, Cold War, Modern Warfare, and Warzone share content and even progress.
A new Season 1 has already been announced in Warzone, starting on December 10 and closely related to CoD: Cold War. However, it is still not clear what all will come – which is probably what Nickmercs is referring to in his video. The roadmap only mentions a “secret Warzone experience.”
