Players on PS4 can now download the new Update 3.0.0.1 for Destiny 2 already. But when does the preload start on Xbox One and PC? Here are all the important times.
What is the new update about? On Tuesday, November 10, it will finally happen: Destiny 2 opens a new chapter and begins its 4th year. However, before that, you need to download the new Update 3.0.0.1. This patch will introduce the new expansion Beyond Light and kick off Season 12.

To reduce the load on the servers or to distribute it better, Bungie offers a preload for the patch. The times depend on the platform. The first players can already download this update now.
Preload on PlayStation
When does it start? On PS4, randomly selected PS Plus users have been able to download the update in advance since 5:00 AM on November 8. Since 5:00 AM on November 9, all other PlayStation players can preload the new patch. The update on PlayStation is labeled version 2.02.
Please note: If the preload does not start automatically, navigate to Destiny 2, press the Options button on the controller, and then select “Check for updates”.
Moreover, Bungie recommends not deleting your current installation to speed up the preload process – even if it is large. The update will not be installed immediately after the preload – only on November 10 at 5:00 AM. You can still play Destiny 2 after the preload. After all, there is still an ending event for Season 11 before Beyond Light and the extended server downtime.
How big is the download? According to the MeinMMO editorial team, the download weighed nearly 60 GB. You will need 171.68 GB of free space on your hard drive for the installation. After that, Destiny 2 should only occupy 70.78 GB on the hard drive.
If you have somehow already received a PS5, then the game will also require 70.78 GB of free space there after Update 3.0.0.1.
Preload on Xbox One
When does it start? The preload on Xbox will be available shortly after 4:00 AM on November 10 – just after Destiny 2 goes offline for maintenance on November 10.
How big is the download? This is not exactly known yet. However, on Xbox One, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X, Destiny 2 should be 65.7 GB after the update.
Preload on PC
When does it start? On PC, the preload will also be activated shortly after 4:00 AM on November 10, just after Destiny 2 goes offline. Update 3.0.0.1 should automatically enter the Steam download queue as soon as the preload becomes available.
How big is the download? The exact download size is not yet known and will be updated soon. However, on PC, you will need up to 186.2 GB of free space for the installation (depending on the selected language). Afterwards, the game should occupy at most 69.7 GB.
