The War of Thorns, the pre-event, in World of Warcraft is not liked by all players. Many complain: That was just too little.
The official pre-event of World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth has started. The “War of Thorns” tells of Sylvanas’ attack on the tree Teldrassil, which ultimately ends in the destruction of the capital Darnassus. The quests for this stretch over several weeks, the first quests are now accessible. Numerous players are disappointed by this, as they find: That is too little content.
Only a handful of quests. The first phase of the event is relatively quick to handle. After about 10 quests, it comes to a halt; by the way, the quests will only be unlocked in the coming week. As a filler in between, there are a few world quests at Darkshore, which at least mean a nice upgrade for fresh characters at level 110. However, those who already have good equipment have little from the new world quests.
There used to be somehow more going on
Legion had more to offer. Especially the direct comparison with the pre-event of World of Warcraft: Legion is often made. Here there was not only a quest line, but also constant attacks from the Burning Legion across the world. Every few hours there were new attacks, and hundreds of players streamed to the zones where the Legion was active.
Fans want Twink bonuses. The most common complaint heard is that “Legion” provided an easy, effective way to quickly boost twinks to max level with the invasions. As a result, many players got their second and third characters to level 100 before the addon started. With Battle for Azeroth, there is no such option; there is only “catch-up” gear through world quests – and that only at max level.
On Reddit and in the official forums, there are many sarcastic and cynical statements, like “Wow, 30 minutes of quests and then another week of boredom – great pre-event!”
For some, the event is a fitting start to Battle for Azeroth
There are also positive voices: However, it must be said that many players are quite enjoying the pre-event so far, as it highlights experiences from two sides and introduces “harmoniously” into the new expansion. Moreover, the attacks of the Legion also disturbed some players who wanted to level “normally” in the old zones back then. This time, everything is just a bit calmer. The calm before the storm.
It should also be noted that the quests will continue in the coming weeks and will even culminate in the attack on Undercity for pre-orderers.
How do you like the War of Thorns as a pre-event so far? An outrageous disappointment? Or a fitting start that has only unfolded halfway?
