The movie about Monster Hunter World gets new footage. The official posters show a sword from the game series, actress Milla Jovovich, but nothing new otherwise.
What kind of posters are these? For the upcoming Monster Hunter film, there are now two new official teaser posters (via IGN). They feature actress Milla Jovovich, who presents the great sword “Huge Jaw Blade”, and Tony Jaa, who is holding a bow.
The two are located in a desert-like area, presumably inspired by the Wildspine Wastes from Monster Hunter World.
Jovovich plays the role of Natalie Artemis in the movie, a soldier of the United Nations who falls through a portal into the world of Monster Hunter with her squad. Accordingly, the first images from the film showed military vehicles and rifles.
Tony Jaa takes on the role of the character “The Hunter”, about whom not much is known yet.
The enthusiasm is lukewarm
The reactions of Monster Hunter players on social media to the new posters are rather cool. Even the first set photos made many fans angry.
Especially under the official tweet from Sony Pictures about the posters, there was criticism:
- Many of the negative reactions referred to the film’s director, Paul W. S. Anderson, known for his Resident Evil films. Users have no confidence that he can produce a good Monster Hunter film.
- Comments were made about how the great sword looks far too small.
- It was also pointed out that there have been no official images or videos of the monsters yet, apart from a trailer leak in low quality.
Also in the Monster Hunter and MHW reddit forums, the reactions were rather negative. However, some users stated they wished the film would be good, even if they have little hope.

When does the movie come out? The release date for the movie in Germany has been set for September 3. So far, there is little information about the film aside from a few images and the leaked teaser trailer.
