In a popular MMORPG, you will be able to summon sandworms starting from July 2023, reminiscent of the brown-gray beasts from the science fiction film “Dune”.
New World has now been on the market for over 1.5 years and continues to receive regular updates that add new content to the MMORPG from Amazon Games.
In July 2023, New World will receive the update “Blood of the Sands” – included is a new raid boss, the giant desert worm “Shah Neshen the Devourer”.
Additionally, there will be a new heart rune ability called “Sandworm Devourer Heart Rune” that allows you to summon a sandworm reminiscent of the giant beasts from the sci-fi epic “Dune”.
How does the new heart rune ability work? With the new heart rune ability, “New World” players can summon their own sandworm and unleash it on enemies.
While it is not big enough to swallow oversized machines, it is sufficient to deal solid damage to an enemy player. Furthermore, the summoned one approaches your foes from below and bursts up from the ground at their feet.
Additionally, according to Amazon Games, the worm is capable of pushing other players off a wall (via newworld.com) and inflicting significant damage with a subsequent bite.
What is Dune? Dune is a science fiction book series consisting of six novels, on which games such as the upcoming survival game Dune: Awakening and various films are based – including the 2021 film directed by Canadian director Denis Villeneuve.
The film tells the story of the young nobleman “Paul Atreides,” whose family becomes embroiled in a political conflict on the desert planet Arrakis.
A special feature of the desert planet is the mind-altering drug “Spice,” which is produced by giant sandworms living on Arrakis. The brown-gray beasts play a central role in the Dune universe and are known for devouring anything that comes in their way.
