On June 30, 2025, the new update “Abyssal Depths” will be released for Albion Online. If the developers’ plan works out, it could be particularly worthwhile to try out the MMORPG from Berlin for the first time.
What are the developers planning? One goal of the upcoming update “Abyssal Depths” is to significantly improve the experience for new players in the now 8-year-old MMORPG and to enable earlier access to certain content. They aim to achieve this with the following adjustments:
- The Albion Journal will be expanded with a new category: “First Steps”. This way, the game offers clear paths after the tutorial that introduce you deeper into the PvE, PvP, and crafting systems and better explain important mechanics. New milestones will help keep motivation high.
- The tutorial will be revamped: less text and information, optimized UI, lower focus on collecting and crafting.
- Further UI adjustments will improve usability and accessibility.
- The tracking system for level 3 mobs has been added in the blue and yellow zones.
- Players can view the island features via the exhibition island before buying one.
- The requirements for item power for the arena and the corrupted dungeons of the hunters have been lowered.
- The learning point system will be revamped, with fewer limits and a clearer structure.
In a video of over 7 minutes, the developers present these and other improvements in detail, be sure to check it out on YouTube.
More New Features from “Abyssal Depths”
What else does “Abyssal Depths” bring? Improving the player experience for newcomers is just one part of the new update. New high-risk dungeon variants will be introduced with the depths, where not only monsters but also enemy player groups looking for the treasures are waiting for you. The deeper you venture, the higher the risk and the better the loot.
The new Antiquarian cave provides a kind of gateway to Albion’s most cursed trials: the depths, hellgates, and corrupted dungeons. This feature should make it easier for you to find teammates for the content and reach them quickly with your group. The connected city bank also allows you to easily deposit your loot or re-equip.
For some time now, the MMORPG from Berlin has also had servers in Europe – incredible!
Those who dare into the respective content through the Antiquarian cave can earn reputation for the namesake Antiquarian and gain access to devilish rewards. These include:
• A devilishly looking avatar and the matching avatar ring
• Demon cloak emblem (T4–T8)
• Two baby spiders that are said to grow into speedy mounts: the Hellcrawler, a creature from the hellish depths, and the rare Soulspinner, a gluttonous spider creature that feeds on lost souls.
Last but not least, the real lightning hammer and the star gaze staff will introduce 2 new crystal weapons to the game, allowing you new playstyles. An overview of all the new features of the update can also be found at albiononline.com.
The MMORPG from Germany has been able to write an impressive success story since its launch in July 2017 and attract increasingly more players to its servers. One of Albion Online’s strengths, in our view, is the economy.
