Jung Joon Young is a successful pop artist, songwriter, and actor from South Korea. The 28-year-old wants to be even more and recently announced that he is pursuing a career as an eSports player.
To this end, he joined the famous eSports organization Kongdoo. One of Kongdoo’s most successful teams are the LoL professionals of Kongdoo Monsters.
Serious career change or marketing ploy?
However, it is not entirely clear whether Jung Joon Young will permanently trade the microphone on stage for a frying pan in PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. Young’s record label C9 Entertainment is also involved in the deal with Kongdoo.
So it could also be a clever marketing stunt that cleverly combines the Koreans’ passion for eSports and K-Pop. In any case, there are some professionals in the PUBG team from Kongdoo.
Among them is “Evermore”, who won the solo tournament in PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds at Gamescom 2017. So Jung Yoon Young is likely not in this professional team “just for fun”.
