The new MOBA Pokémon Unite now has an official release date for the Nintendo Switch. We reveal when the game will be released and what you can expect from it.
When will Pokémon Unite be released? The new MOBA Pokémon Unite has two different release dates:
- On Wednesday, July 21, the game will be released for the Nintendo Switch
- In September, it is expected to be released for Android and iOS
In the future, crossplay is also planned, so that all devices can play against each other.
Owners of a Nintendo Switch who register in the game by August 31 will also receive a Unite license for Zeraora, a special Pokémon in the game. Zeraora is expected to come for mobile players as well, but at a different time.
Was Pokémon Unite playable yet? Yes, but only in regional tests in Japan. There, the first players were able to try out the Pokémon MOBA.
The German YouTuber Sephiron took advantage of this to stream Pokémon Unite for 3 hours and try out all the characters. You can watch this video:
The game resembles LoL, just with Pokémon
What kind of game is this? Pokémon Unite is a MOBA that is somewhat reminiscent of games like League of Legends or DOTA 2.
You compete in two teams of 5 Pokémon each. Each Pokémon has its own ability and can be equipped and evolved with items during a match. With your monsters, you defeat enemy or wild Pokémon that are roaming in the arena.
The Pokémon in the game are divided into different roles that you must use cleverly. There are “Attackers,” “Speedsters,” “All-Rounders,” “Defenders,” and “Supporters.” You can find all Pokémon from Pokémon Unite here: All playable Pokémon in Pokémon Unite and their roles.
