In the collectible card game of Pokémon, you can soon look forward to new expansions revolving around Scarlet and Violet. We at MeinMMO provide you with an exclusive first look at the preview cards.
Which cards are involved? One of the most popular Pokémon items across generations are the trading cards. These are not only meant to be collected, as their name suggests, but also provide a genuine gaming experience for fans of the little pocket monsters.
Now you can look forward to new booster packs, or expansions to the trading card game, centered around the main games Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, which were released in November 2022 for the Nintendo Switch. Pokémon announced in December that with the introduction of the new card set, they also plan to make some changes to the design (via pokemon.com).
We give you an exclusive first look at the new trading cards and the changed design in the following video:
What cards will be in the Scarlet & Violet series?
The trading cards for Scarlet and Violet revolve around a new generation of Pokémon that can be found in the Paldea region. But also familiar monsters will again be part of the packs. An exclusive first look at the preview cards shows which Pokémon you can find in the booster packs in the future:
Trasla (Basic card)
- 70 HP
- Attack: Psychic Shot
Krilia (1st Expansion)
- 90 HP
- Attacks: Magical Shot and Psychic
Guardevoir (Expansion 2)
- 310 HP
- Attack: Wonder Power
- Ability: Psychic Hug
Miraidon (Basic card)
- 120 HP
- Attacks: Sharp Fangs and Lightning Laser
Koraidon (Basic card)
- 130 HP
- Attacks: Claw Slash and Raging Fangs
Which other cards will be included in the expansion packs is not yet known at this time. According to the preview on the official Pokémon site, you can also look forward to cards from the starter Pokémon of the Paldea region, Felori, Krokel, and Kwaks, as well as of course new supporter and energy cards.
By the way: The trading card game also had a collaboration last year with Pokémon GO, in the design of the mobile game.
When can you get the cards? According to the current information, the new booster packs for Scarlet and Violet should be available starting March 31, 2023.
Are there any further changes? With the release of the booster packs for Scarlet and Violet, according to Pokémon, there will be further changes besides a new design (via pokemon.com):
- the price rises from 4.99 euros to 5.49 euros per booster pack
- 3 holographic cards per pack
- all cards with the level rare or higher will then be holographic
- additional content with certain products, like the trainer box
