In Pokémon TCG Pocket, there are different rarities into which the cards are divided. MeinMMO reveals to you which are the rarest that you can draw from the boosters.
How can I tell how rare a card is? Some Pokémon come in different versions in Pokémon TCG Pocket. The rarity of a card can be recognized by the symbols found in the lower left corner of the cards.
The cards that appear somewhat more frequently are marked with a diamond:
- ♢ – Common
- ♢♢ – Uncommon
- ♢♢♢ – Rare
- ♢♢♢♢ – Very rare
The rare cards in the game either have a star or a crown:
- ☆ – Full-Art Pokémon
- ☆☆ – Full-Art Pokémon ex / -Trainer
- ☆☆☆ – Immersive cards
- 🜲 – Gold Full-Art cards
Full-Art cards do not have the typical design of the other cards, but instead of the textbox, they feature the complete image. The immersive cards are special sections of a larger image that plays as a video when you look at the card closely. For example, there are Charizard ex, Pikachu ex, Mewtwo ex and Mew.
From the rarest level in the game, the golden Full-Art card, there are only a few copies in each booster series.
The chance of getting the rarest cards
The rarer the card, the less likely it is to find the card in your booster. It depends on luck when you come across one of the rarest cards.
Cards with only one diamond symbol appear 100% in your standard boosters. They are always the first three cards you draw from your booster. All other cards appear either as the 4th or the 5th card. The chances for that are different, respectively.
The exact chances of the normal packs can be found in the game. You can see an overview here:
- ♢♢ – 90% (4th card), 60% (5th card)
- ♢♢♢ – 5% (4th card), 20% (5th card)
- ♢♢♢♢ – 1.666% (4th card), 6.664% (5th card)
- ☆ – 2.572% (4th card), 10.288% (5th card)
- ☆☆ – 0.5% (4th card), 2% (5th card)
- ☆☆☆ – 0.222% (4th card), 0.888% (5th card)
- 🜲 – 0.04% (4th card), 0.16% (5th card)
So, if you open 1,000 boosters, there should be one to two cards of the crown rarity. Since this is just a theoretical value, reality can look different.
The God Pack as the ultimate jackpot
There is a 0.05% chance that the selection of the booster is not a normal pack but a rare pack (also called a God Pack). In it, all cards of the booster are at least of the rarity level ☆ or higher.
Here the chances look much better and apply across all 5 cards:
- ☆ – 40%
- ☆☆ – 50%
- ☆☆☆ – 5%
- 🜲 – 5%
So, you are a real lucky duck if you should pull a God Pack. However, don’t rely too much on drawing such a rare booster too often.
Alternatives to obtaining cards
Another method is to save the pack points for a rarer card. As soon as you draw cards, you earn these points. However, for the rarest cards, you need to collect 2,500 pack points.
Another method is to hope that your friends have better luck. In a Wonder Trade, you can choose a card from a booster that your friends have drawn. If one of the rarest cards is included, your chance of grabbing it has increased to 1 in 5.
The great advantage of Pokémon TCG Pocket is that you do not have to spend a single cent on the game. This benefits MeinMMO editor Jasmin Beverungen, as she can build her long-awaited collection: The new trading card game to Pokémon does almost everything better than the original from before and doesn’t even cost anything
