With the new expansion Guardian of the Firmament
, Pokémon TCG Pocket enters the next round. One card stands out directly, as it could shake up the new meta of the game.
What kind of card is it? It is the card “Rare Candy”, an Item card in Pokémon TCG Pocket. It was first introduced in the new trailer for the expansion Guardian of the Firmament
.
The special thing about the card: It allows players to skip the first phase of evolving their Pokémon. To play the card, a basic Pokémon must already be on the field, and you must have the Phase-2 card, which is the final evolution stage of the card, already in hand.
If you now play the Rare Candy, you are allowed to place the Phase-2 card directly on the basic Pokémon, thus skipping the evolution to Phase 1. To do this, the Phase-1 card does not even have to be in the deck.
Community excited about Rare Candy card
What makes the card so special? The Rare Candy card saves a lot of time when it comes to cards that have two phases. After all, you simply skip the phase.
There are powerful evolutions that previously had a disadvantage due to long waiting times because of the two phases, and now they benefit from being able to act faster. After all, during the waiting time, they could have been attacked at any time and thus weakened. However, if they evolve faster, they can also attack more quickly.
How is the community reacting? The community is absolutely thrilled about the card. On reddit, the user Youispopio expressed his excitement for the card: “RARE CANDY IS REAL”. The comments under the post are similarly enthusiastic:

What is the downside of the card? Even though the card allows skipping an evolution phase, it does not mean that ex-cards can necessarily attack faster. Many ex-cards still need a lot of energy to execute their powerful attacks, which must also be gathered first.
One card can benefit greatly from the Rare Candy: Gengar-ex. The card only requires three energies to attack and could therefore save one of its evolution stages.
