Mew-ex can become useless with just one Pokémon
How can I counter it? The collector reports that he faced a duel against a trainer with a Mew-ex deck. A screenshot shows that the opponent has Mew-ex in the active position. On the bench, there are two Shardrago and one Dratini.
He himself has only one Pokémon in the active position: Lumineon. It can deal 50 damage to a Pokémon on the opponent’s bench with its attack.
This puts the trainer in the fortunate position to defeat Shardrago and Dratini on the bench. Mew-ex can only copy the attack and strike the Pokémon on the other bench – where there are actually no Pokémon present.
As long as Mew-ex does not retreat, the trainer can wipe out the opposing bench without fearing consequences. This way, the otherwise strong Pokémon suddenly becomes useless.
Is there a disadvantage? Once Mew-ex retreats and Shardrago is in the active position, things get dicey. The Pokémon attacks with 90 damage, which would mean instant death for Lumineon’s 80 HP. Since no other Pokémon can come up from the bench, the match would be over immediately.
However, the collector was lucky in the above scenario, as the other trainer did not have any fire energy available. Thus, Shardrago could not attack at all, and its ability would not have helped. Mew-ex also couldn’t do anything, as the player additionally had no Psychic energy, preventing the Pokémon from using its attack along with the 20 damage.
