Mysterious Island.
In Pokémon TCG Pocket, there are some strong cards that you can pull from booster packs. Once you have drawn enough cards, you can focus on building a strong deck.
One of the currently strongest decks is the Mewtwo ex deck. We have looked into how you can build it, what cards you need, and how you should play it.
Mewtwo ex Deck in Pokémon TCG Pocket – Here’s what it looks like
What cards do I need for the deck? If you want to recreate the Mewtwo ex deck and use it in battles, you need the following cards:
- 2x Mewtwo-ex (♢♢♢♢)
- 2x Trasla (♢)
- 2x Kirlia (♢♢)
- 2x Gardevoir (♢♢♢)
- 1x Rossana (♢)
- 2x Mythical Table (♢♢)
- 2x Pokéball
- 1x X-Initiative
- 2x Professor’s Research
- 1x Giovanni (♢♢)
- 1x Sabrina (♢♢)
- 1x Leaf (♢♢)
- 1x Red Card
Sometimes the “Red Card” is also replaced by a regular Mewtwo. A player recently won a tournament in Pokémon TCG Pocket with this slightly modified version of the deck .
Where can I get the cards? You get the Sabrina card in the Charizard booster, Giovanni and all 5 Pokémon in the Mewtwo boosters. Leaf is part of the new Mysterious Island
booster and can be drawn there, just like the Mythical Table. You can purchase all remaining Trainer cards in the shop.
How to play the deck
The idea behind this deck is to use Mewtwo ex as your active Pokémon and quickly equip it with the necessary energies. Its attack “Psycho Drive” requires 4 psychic energies, of which 2 must be discarded when using the attack.
To facilitate energy management for Mewtwo ex, you rely on Gardevoir on your bench. This Pokémon has the ability “Psychic Shadow”, allowing you to attach an additional energy to your active Mewtwo ex in each round.
Since Mewtwo ex’s Psycho Drive deals a whopping 150 damage, most opposing Pokémon are already knocked out with a single attack. Even those with higher HP cannot survive this attack a second time.
If you don’t have the necessary cards at the beginning of the game or struggle to evolve Gardevoir, Trainer cards like Pokéball and Professor’s Research will help you get to those cards faster.
With the other Trainer cards, you gain some flexibility to better respond to your opponent’s actions.
This deck’s weakness
Mewtwo is a Psychic type, making it weak against Dark type monsters.
A possible counter deck that could give your Mewtwo ex deck a lot of trouble relies on Arbok and Weezing, who are not only Dark type but can also poison your Mewtwo and prevent it from retreating.
Besides the Mewtwo ex deck, there are also several others that you can currently build in the game to compete against opponents. On MeinMMO, we’ve created the appropriate overview with all the decks you can currently rely on: Tier List of the best decks you can play.
