In Pokémon TCG Pocket, Dialga-ex is one of the most exciting new cards. In what kind of deck is it worth it? In the Steel deck? Or somewhere else? Let’s take a look.
This is Dialga-ex in TCG Pocket: Dialga-ex is one of the new cards that have just entered the game with “Collision of Space and Time.”
Dialga-ex has 150 HP available, as well as the attacks Steel Turbo and Heavy Impact. Steel Turbo inflicts 30 damage for two Steel energies and then also puts 2 Steel energies onto a Pokémon on your bench. Heavy Impact inflicts 100 damage for two Steel and Colorless energies but has no effect.
Dialga has no pre-evolution, so it can be played as a basic Pokémon immediately. Overall, it is a Pokémon that can quickly supply other monsters with Steel energy while also acting as a wall that can deal damage once it has gathered enough energy. In which decks can it be used?
Dialga-ex in combination with Melmetal – The Steel Deck in Pokémon TCG Pocket
Since Dialga-ex provides Steel energy, it makes sense to use Steel Pokémon. One deck variation has already reached Rank A in the tier list of the best decks in Pokémon TCG Pocket: the combination with Melmetal. Use the following monsters:
- 2x Dialga-ex
- 2x Meltan
- 2x Melmetal
- 2x Mew-ex
With Dialga and Melmetal, you have two defensively strong monsters that can deal significant damage if needed. You can supply Mew-ex with energy via Dialga so that it can copy your opponent’s attacks. This is useful if your opponents want to use powerful attacks against you.
What items? Useful cards in such a deck are:
- Leaf
- Giovanni
- Lucia
- Helmet
- Pokéball
- Professor’s Research
- Pokémon Communication
- X-Initiative
- Blue
These cards are typical supporters. Check which ones you have. But especially with the Helmet from the new expansion, you can also annoy the opponent, who receives 20 damage every time they attack Pokémon equipped with it.
Alternatives: Combine Dialga-ex with Yanmega or Slurpuff-ex
As alternatives, two monsters seem to crystallize: the new Yanmega-ex or Slurpuff-ex.
Both function as monsters that offer powerful attacks but require colorless energies to do so. For example, Yanmega-ex can inflict 120 damage with its attack but loses one energy with each use of the attack. It benefits from quickly obtaining much energy through Dialga and then being able to deal damage.
Slurpuff-ex can inflict 100+ damage for four colorless energies, while flipping a coin until tails comes up. For every time it lands heads, there’s an additional 40 damage. This Pokémon can also quickly gain the necessary energy through Dialga.
Both are cards with which you can potentially deal more damage than with the pure Steel build mentioned above. What were your first cards from the new expansion?
