With the current trailer for Pokémon TCG Pocket, the new expansion has been revealed. A special card stands out, as it brings a previously underutilized element back to life.
Which card is it? The two new stars of the upcoming expansion are Dialga-ex and Palkia-ex. They are the two legendary Pokémon that also grace the cover of Pokémon Diamond & Pearl. They are the icons of the 4th game generation, which is now coming to TCG Pocket with Clash of Space and Time.
Especially Dialga-ex is causing a big uproar among fans. The Pokémon is of the Steel type and has 150 HP. With 2 Steel Energy, it can use “Metal Turbo” and deal 30 damage. In this turn, 2 Steel Energy are attached to a Pokémon on the bench.
Additionally, it can perform “Heavy Slam” with 4 Steel Energy. This deals 100 damage, which is relatively low damage for high energy costs compared to other Pokémon. However, it is the first attack that excites many players (via Reddit).

Dialga-ex could shake up the meta and make Steel decks more playable
What is the main advantage of Dialga-ex? With the Steel Energy that Dialga-ex can attach to Pokémon on the bench, cards can be prepared. This could make Melmetal a disruptive force in the meta.
The Steel Pokémon requires 4 Energy to execute “Heavy Slam” with 120 damage and is a Stage 1 Pokémon. Therefore, it takes some time for Melmetal to be ready to move into the active position. With Dialga-ex, this time would be shortened. Additionally, Dialga-ex has only 2 retreat costs. This means it can quickly be swapped for Melmetal.
So far, there is no good Steel deck with which players can keep up in the meta . That could change now with Dialga-ex.
Additionally, Pokémon that require a lot of colorless Energy can be pushed faster. Some players on Reddit believe that Dialga-ex would make a good combination with Mew-ex or Jigglypuff-ex.
A player in the Reddit forum even believes that it might be a good tactic to equip a second Dialga-ex with it. It can be used in various ways and will likely shake up the meta decks significantly.
To get Dialga-ex as quickly as possible, you have to hope to pull it from a booster. Alternatively, you can collect pack points to trade for it.
