The digital trading card game Pokémon TCG Pocket has recently been released and has already attracted several million players to install the game.
In addition to collecting cards and battling against other players as well as the CPU, there are other features waiting for you in the game. One of them is the so-called Flair.
We have looked into what exactly it is and how you can use it.
What is Flair in Pokémon TCG Pocket?
With Flair, you can add effects to your cards in Pokémon TCG Pocket. These are purely cosmetic and do not affect the values, properties, and attacks of the cards themselves.
What types of Flairs are there? There are 2 different types of Flairs: Decorative Flairs and Battle Flairs. If you use a Battle Flair on a card, you will see the effect during battles when you use that card.
Decorative Flairs are also visible in battles but can be equipped on cards that you showcase in your albums or galleries.
What Flair effects a card can have depends on the rarity of the card itself. Cards with at least rarity 1* can only receive battle effects.
How many Flairs does a card have? Currently, there are 4 different Flair effects that you can unlock for a card. Once unlocked, you can add them to a card.
Only one Flair can be active on a card at a time. If you unlock such an effect, it can only be used on one of your cards. If you use one card in your deck twice and want to have such an effect on both, you will need to unlock the Flair effects doubly as well.
Additionally, you always unlock a Flair explicitly for a card. For example, if you have unlocked a Flair effect for a Bulbasaur card, that effect can only be used on that card.
What do I need for a Flair exchange?
To unlock a Flair for a card, you need 2 things: duplicates of the card and Sparkle Dust. If you have enough of both, you can exchange them together for a Flair.
You need as many duplicates of a card that after the exchange, you still have at least 2 instances of that card left.
For example, if you have 4 copies of the same Bulbasaur card and need 3 of them for a Flair, you cannot perform the exchange as you would only have one card left afterwards. In this case, you need at least 5 copies of the card to conduct the exchange.
If you are missing the cards to obtain a Flair, you need to open more packs, conduct a miracle draw, or exchange your pack points for new copies of the card.
How do I get Sparkle Dust? There are several ways to obtain the necessary Sparkle Dust.
- by collecting card duplicates (starting from the 3rd card)
- by increasing your level
- by unlocking achievements
- by participating in various events
The higher the level of the card for which you obtain at least the 3rd copy, the higher the amount of Sparkle Dust you receive.
How do I unlock a Flair?
If you have collected enough cards and Sparkle Dust, you can exchange them for a Flair effect. To do this, go to your card collection and open the corresponding card. Here you will find the button “Get Flair”.
Clicking it will open a window where you can see which Flair you can unlock and what the costs are. When you confirm the exchange, the effect will be unlocked.
After that, you can add the effect to your card when you are in the deck building menu or when adding the card to an album or gallery. The latter options only work for decorative effects.
What are the costs for Flairs?
The costs for unlocking Flairs vary and depend on the rarity of the card. For decorative effects, the costs are as follows:

For Flairs with battle effects, the costs look a bit different. For these, you need the following materials:
