Use your Pokémon in different roles
Along with the previous tip, you should have three types of Pokémon in your team: fast attackers, strong damage dealers, and balanced all-rounders. The all-rounders are Pokémon that only have one stage of evolution and have at least 70 HP. With them, you can deal as much damage as possible at the beginning of the match. They include:
- Articuno, Moltres, and Zapdos
- Furnifraß
- Scyther
- Electabuzz
- Pantimos
- Britzigel
For the fast attackers, use Pokémon that do not deal much damage but only require one or two energy points to attack. They can be used in various situations, especially when you have no all-rounder at hand. They usually consist of only two stages of evolution and reach their final stage quickly. These include:
- Elezeba and Zebritz
- Enton and Entoron
- Clefairy and Clefable
- Diglett and Dugtrio
- Fleknoil and Fletiamo
- Knogga and Tragosso
The strong damage dealers are what you should be aiming for. These Pokémon have high energy costs, an enormous damage output, and high retreat costs. This includes ex-Pokémon as well as Pokémon that have three stages of evolution. These include:
- Bulbasaur-ex, Charizard-ex, and Blastoise-ex
- Kokowei-ex
- Machoke-ex
- Geodude, Graveler, and Golem
- Nidoran, Nidorina, and Nidoqueen
- Dratini, Dragonair, and Dragonite
Do not include too many types of energy in the deck
The Pokémon are assigned to certain elements. When building your deck, you must decide which resources to use for your deck. This way, you can mix types to have an effective counter against your opponent. For example: Your opponent will have an advantage over your Grass Pokémon with Fire Pokémon. So why not mix Water Pokémon into your own deck?
However, you should use no more than 2 different types of energy as the basis for your deck. The resources are drawn in random order during the battle, and it may be that you do not get the desired element at the right time.
