Good counters help against the strongest decks in Pokémon TCG Pocket. To give you the best chance against the S-tier decks built by players, we’ll reveal 5 good counters.
How do I best win against the strongest decks? With each new booster wave, new Pokémon cards come to TCG Pocket. Each time, the tier list of the best decks can change, which players use to build their own decks. Therefore, it’s important to be well-prepared against these decks.
MeinMMO presents you with counters you can use to generally win against particularly strong decks. This way, you are not dependent on the current tier list, and you can always be in the top position.

5 counters against the best decks in Pokémon TCG Pocket
1. Combination of Arbok and Smogmog / Tauboss against a strong opponent
If you face a deck that relies heavily on a strong Pokémon, you should aim to send that Pokémon back to the bench. Such a deck could be, for example, the one using Mewtwo-ex. Even more important is ensuring that the Pokémon doesn’t come back in the next round.
That’s why it’s advisable to include Arbok as a counter in your deck. Arbok has the ability that prevents the opponent from switching their active Pokémon in the next round. To send the opponent’s strong Pokémon to the bench, there are two options: You can either include Sabrina in your deck or rely on Tauboss, which can also send opponents to the bench.
In combination with Smogmog, which can poison the active opposing Pokémon once per round, you’ll quickly wear down the opponent.
2. Dragoran as a damage dealer against multiple opponents
Alternatively, the opposing deck may consist of several Pokémon that are strong against you. For example, the Pikachu-ex deck, which also has Zapdos-ex as a strong opponent. In this case, it may be more beneficial to build around Dragoran.
Dragoran deals 50 damage four times. Which Pokémon gets hit by the damage is random. This way, you can also hit Pokémon on the bench and eliminate them before they even make it to the battlefield.
3. Rossana as a counter against many energy counters
Some decks like that of Articuno-ex combined with Misty rely on having as many energy counters as possible right from the start. Mewtwo-ex can also quickly accumulate many energy counters when supported by Gardevoir.
In such decks, Rossana is invaluable. The Pokémon has the ability to deal an additional 20 damage to the opponent for each energy attached to it. This can quickly accumulate to a huge amount of damage, defeating the opponent.
4. Ditto copies everything – really everything
Ditto is perhaps the simplest secret weapon, defeating opponents with their own weapons. The Pokémon requires the same amount of energy that the opponent’s attack requires. If you have gathered the energy on the bench, you can switch in Ditto and copy the opponent’s strong attacks. Mewtwo-ex would thus be knocked out with a Psychic Drive.
However, Ditto has a significant drawback: you must have the same energy as the opposing Pokémon. If you have assigned a different element, the attack unfortunately does not work.
5. Using weaknesses is always a good idea
And a general tip: Use elements in your deck that are considered weaknesses against the currently strongest decks. This way, the chance of encountering a specific element type that you can easily deal more damage to is high.
Additionally, certain effects like paralysis from electric Pokémon can help keep opponents in check. So study the currently best decks and look for their weaknesses.
