Tomorrow, on November 23rd, the new Pokémon editions Sun and Moon will be released in Germany. Leya will turn 11 again and is very excited.
Tomorrow is finally the day, a new adventure in Pokémon begins! This time, our journey takes us to Alola, a tropical island region reminiscent of Hawaii. With these editions, Pokémon turns 20 years old and once again celebrates its principles: „Collecting, Trading, Battling – Together!”
I still remember exactly how I held the Gameboy in my hands 20 years ago and a whole new world opened up for me. I played the edition “Pokémon Red” and began my journey with my first starter Charmander. It was the first game I truly fell in love with. Pokémon was my first step into the gaming world and as strange as it may sound to some – it often served as my lifeline in tough times.

Pokémon Sun and Moon – The Highlights
Before I get too nostalgic, I want to introduce you to three things I am particularly looking forward to in the anniversary edition Pokémon Sun and Moon.
The Starters of Pokémon Sun and Moon and their Final Evolutions
Every trainer starts off with the dilemma of choosing between three starter Pokémon. This is no different in Alola, and it’s always an exciting decision. You can choose between the Grass-Flying Pokémon Rowlet, the Fire Pokémon Litten, and the Water Pokémon Popplio.
You can see the final evolutions of the starter Pokémon in the video! I will probably choose Popplio, its big red nose is just too cute. Additionally, the mysterious guardian deities of Alola are introduced, and at the end of the video, we see the adult versions of Red and Blue.
Epic Z-Moves of the Pokémon
It will be particularly epic with the spectacular Z-Moves! When I watched the video, the child in me got really excited. To execute Z-Moves, you need a Z-Ring, into which a Z-Crystal is placed. There are a total of 18 different Z-Crystals, one for each Pokémon type. Each trainer can use only one Z-Move per battle, as Z-Moves are extremely powerful.
Alola Forms in Pokémon Sun and Moon – Dugtrio gets Flowing Hair!
Fans of the first generation can rejoice. Some of your old Pokémon friends from Kanto are returning in Pokémon Sun and Moon – but they look very different and have new forms. The Alola Forms have come from Kanto to the Alola region and have adapted to the climate there, taking on new forms.
Dugtrio now has a flowing mane that is also revered in the Alola region. Here, Dugtrio is considered the god of the land. With its shiny locks, it’s no wonder.
These aren’t the only amazing things you can experience starting tomorrow with Pokémon Sun and Moon. There’s also the Aether Foundation, Ultra Beasts and a kind of Pokémon Snap. As per tradition, you can also go hunting for legendary Pokémon again.
