The Pokémon Company announces a new event called “Get Mew & Mewtwo!” with a wonderfully animated CGI trailer for Pokémon Scarlet & Violet. For the first time, it will be possible to obtain Mew and Mewtwo in the game. Both will be available in a very special version.
How do I get Mew? You can easily get Mew. You just need to enter the code GETY0URMEW as a password in the game’s Mystery Gift menu to obtain it.
The menu will be unlocked about one to one and a half hours after the game starts. You can input the code starting now.
Mew will have the following features:
- Level: 5
- Moves: ???, Star Shower, Light Shield, Life Dew
However, you shouldn’t wait too long, as the code is only valid for a limited time. You have until September 18, 2023, at 14:59 to redeem the code. The password can only be used once per save file.

Each Mew you can obtain with this code will have a different Tera type and nature. If you’re not satisfied with your Mew, you should consider trading it.
The Mew will then stay permanently in your team, and you can use it for all kinds of content available in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet.
Mew seems to be very popular among fans. In the comments on the trailer, one fan mentions that he has never owned Mew. He is therefore excited that Mew will be available for the first time in Scarlet & Violet.
Prepare for battle against Mewtwo with Mew
How do I get Mewtwo? Unfortunately, you can’t get Mewtwo, which has a Titan mark, so easily. The Pokémon appears in a special 7-star Tera Raid. The period during which the Tera Raid will take place is as follows:
- Mewtwo: September 1, 2023, at 0:00 until September 17, 2023, at 23:59
To prepare properly for the battle, you should participate in the previous Tera Raids. In these, there are special items that help in combat against Mewtwo. The raids will take place at the following times:
- 1st Wave: August 9, 2023, at 0:00 until August 17, 2023, at 23:59
- Pokémon appearing in 5-star Tera Raids: Scyther, Ampharos, Trikephalo
- 2nd Wave: August 18, 2023, at 0:00 until August 31, 2023, at 23:59
- Pokémon appearing in 5-star Tera Raids: Ampharos, Silembrim, Olangaar
Some useful items available in these raids include experience candies, items for improving stats, and Tera shards, which can be used to change a Pokémon’s Tera type.
Mewtwo can also only be caught once per save file. If you encounter the genetic mutant Pokémon again, you’ll only receive additional rewards.
Additionally, you need an active membership for Nintendo Switch Online to participate in Tera Raids. To activate the raids, you need to download the PokéPortal news from the main menu.
