Pokémon Pokopia is coming soon to the Nintendo Switch 2, and although it belongs to a different genre, it excels in one area over Legends Z-A. However, for MeinMMO editor Niko, it is not a solution to a problem that has plagued Pokémon fans for 7 years.
What makes it better than Legends Z-A? As GameRant reports, an image from a preview session was posted showing a Espeon with the number 284. Since other Eevee evolutions like Sylveon have also been confirmed, it can be assumed that there will be at least around 300 Pokémon in the game.
When compared to the RPG Pokémon Legends: Z-A, where players can acquire 233 Pokémon without DLC, this is already an improvement.
However, more than 300 Pokémon do not do justice to the series and may solve a frustration point for the community that has plagued fans for nearly 7 years.
Pokémon thrives on the 1,025 monsters
On November 15, 2019, the 8th Pokémon generation debuted with Sword and Shield, but at the same time, a feature that fans still miss today was absent: the national Pokédex. For the first time, it was not possible to have every Pokémon in the game. Although Pokémon Home was later introduced as storage software, if you don’t have a subscription, you can only store 30 Pokémon.
In the subsequent games, the national Dex was also missing, and new Pokémon were introduced through DLCs. Here too, you might be unlucky if your favorite does not make it into the DLC. Since Sword and Shield, fans have missed this feature because sometimes you just want to play the RPG with your favorite or even a Pokémon from your childhood.
But even if Pokémon Pokopia is not an RPG, a large Pokémon roster could be even more important. In a cozy game, players want to relax, and in Pokopia, you can interact with Pokémon in various ways. Who wouldn’t want to build a city, craft, or simply chill with their favorite Pokémon?
It also seems to be another game that strongly dedicates itself to Kanto nostalgia.
The photo mode, customizable environment, and relaxed atmosphere would be the perfect setting for fans to express themselves. Just like in Animal Crossing. However, you need options for that, and in a perfect world, that would be 1,025 Pokémon, because they are precisely why players still love the franchise after 30 years.
The sheer number could change the game
Yes, it is challenging to implement over 1,000 character models with various animations and attacks, but this very diversity makes the world of Pokémon so fascinating. If there seem to be no humans in the world, then at least show me as many Pokémon as possible.
You can also reuse animations of attacks or Pokémon. The sheer number could already change the gameplay feel.
So far, it is not yet clear how many Pokémon there will be, but nearly 300 is already a good sign if they will have different roles in the game. Which Pokémon would you need in the game to convince you about Pokopia? Feel free to write it to us in the comments. Nostalgia is an important factor for the game, even in comparison with Palworld: Palworld vs. Pokémon Pokopia: For me, there is a clear winner for a simple reason
