Update, July 12, 2021 – When is Yveltal coming to Pokémon GO? Yveltal is returning like the other legendary bosses on July 18, 2021, for one day in the raids. At the Pokémon GO Fest 2021, it is one of the monsters you can encounter in raids.
Its last appearance was not long ago. Yveltal first appeared in 2021 during the “Illuminating Legends Y” event.
During the event, Yveltal will appear in some level 5 raids of Pokémon GO. To succeed, you need really good attackers that are effective against the legendary boss. The following overview shows which ones are worth it.
Yveltal counters, moveset, and all info about the raid boss
These counters are worth it: Yveltal is vulnerable to monsters of the types Electric, Fairy, Ice, and Rock. Therefore, you should equip your raid teams mainly with monsters of these types.
Yveltal is a raid boss of the Dark and Flying type, which is boosted in foggy and windy weather.

What attacks can Yveltal learn? Yveltal can learn as a fast attack the moves Snarl (Dark), Foul Play (Dark), and Air Slash (Flying).
In the charged attacks, it can carry the moves Dark Pulse (Dark), Hurricane (Flying), Focus Blast (Fighting), Hyper Beam (Normal), and Psychic (Psychic).
You can equip Yveltal either as a flying attacker with Air Slash and Hurricane or go with Snarl and Dark Pulse for the Dark type.
Mega Evolutions: Since Yveltal is vulnerable to Electric attacks, it is worthwhile to bring an electric Mega Evolution into battle. With Mega Ampharos and Mega Ampharos, you can also further reinforce other electric counters. Alternatively, Mega Abomasnow is also worth it as a direct Ice attacker.
How many trainers are needed? If you use the right counters, a group of 4 trainers should be able to defeat the Yveltal raid.
How strong is Yveltal in Pokémon GO?
That’s good: Basically, it is a new legendary Pokémon from the sixth generation. Anyone who wants to fill their Pokédex should grab it.
It is also an interesting option in PvP. In gym and raid battles, it can deal a decent amount of damage as a Dark or Flying attacker.
That’s bad: With its current moveset, Yveltal is more useful than, for example, Xerneas and can be effectively used in battles, but it will not become an absolute top attacker in the Dark or Flying categories.
