What happened? The YouTuber Daniel Schilling, alias “Spieletrend”, addresses the topic of Pokémon GO on his YouTube channel. As it became known a few days ago, he is also affected by the current wave of bans.
He informed his fans on July 24, 2021, that he was banned by Niantic for 30 days for violating the terms of service. He had already been warned previously. Since he is not aware of any wrongdoing, he has filed an appeal with support. Unfortunately, without success.
As more and more players are affected by accidental bans and this topic is heating up on social media, Niantic publicly apologized to the affected trainers and announced that the unfounded bans will be lifted.
This is what Spieletrend says about the current development
In the latest video from Spieletrend, dated July 27, 2021, Daniel Schilling shares that he is still banned. He also mentions that he has found more and more posts on social media since his last video, reporting similar experiences.
Until now, he had a partnership with Niantic. However, he has now terminated it. As he explains in his video, there are several reasons for this.
On the one hand, he no longer wants to be referred to as a “sponsored content creator” in light of the current development from Niantic. He disagrees with the current approach regarding unjustified bans and cannot identify with this business policy.
His main goal is to give the community a voice. Because as he writes in his termination letter to Niantic, it is not productive for him if they unban him as a “sponsored content creator” while ignoring the other trainers altogether. So Spieletrend says: “This is a huge issue. I didn’t want to continue like this” (via YouTube.com).
He also addresses in his letter, which he shows as a snippet in the video, that while Niantic provides many great things for Pokémon GO, they continuously close their eyes to some issues that are not going well. In such cases, trainers receive no responses or only standard replies from support.
Moreover, from Spieletrend’s perspective, it is also a question of trust. He states in his video that he had to meet certain requirements for the partner program for Niantic to trust him. However, after he contacted support following his first strike, there was no solution found for 40 days.
