The Bug Crabby Event has been announced in Pokémon GO. And it brings some really strong content.
What kind of event is this? The Bug Crabby Event starts on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at 10:00 AM and ends on Sunday, March 30, 2025, at 8:00 PM.
As the name suggests, this event is primarily focused on Bug Pokémon. You can expect a new monster with a corresponding evolution, 2 monsters with increased shiny chances, and also a few strong bonuses.
Bug Crabby Event – All Content
Which Pokémon is making its debut? Thermopod, the Bug-Fire monster from Generation 8, is making its debut at the event. With Infernopod, the Pokémon also has an evolution. You can find the new monster in raids, in incense, and in a limited research during the event.
Which monsters have an increased shiny chance? During the event, there is an increased shiny chance for Wurmple and Toxapex. Both Pokémon can be encountered in the wild.
What bonuses are there in the event? There are some strong bonuses that are active during the event. You can look forward to the following bonuses:
- double the amount of experience points for nice, great, and excellent throws (like in the Catch Art Event)
- additional candies when catching with nice, great, and excellent throws
- increased chance for XL candies with nice, great, and excellent throws (from level 31)
- Incense attracts Thermopod
- increased shiny chance for Wurmple and Toxapex
- PokéStops with incense attract more monsters when enough Pokémon have been caught there
Aside from the strong bonuses on experience points and candies, the last point could be especially interesting. How many additional monsters will be attracted and from when this effect is activated at a PokéStop with incense remains to be seen.

Additional content from the event: During the event, you also have the opportunity to complete a free limited research. Here you will receive rewards such as an incense and encounters with event Pokémon such as Ninjatom, Thermopod, and Axantor.
There will also be collector challenges, PokéStop showcases, and field researches during the event. The field researches can reward you with mega energy, Wurmple candies, and encounters with event Pokémon.
For $2 (about 2 €), you can also purchase a paid limited research. Here you can obtain, among other things, 1 incense, 2 premium battle passes, and additional encounters with event Pokémon. You have until the end of the event to claim the rewards.
