In Pokémon GO it’s worth participating in the Battle League if you want a rare Pikachu. But time is running out.
Why should you play PvP? Currently, in Pokémon GO the Season Valuable Paths is ongoing, and this season is considered a transitional season in the PvP League.
The interesting thing about it is the maximum rank and the associated reward: If you reach Rank 20 in the PvP League, you will get a chance to encounter the Wrestler Pikachu.
And this is an opportunity that no collector should miss.
What is special about Wrestler Pikachu in Pokémon GO?
This special variant of Pikachu can only be obtained through the Battle League, and usually, it’s significantly harder than it is currently.
Normally, you have to reach the rank Legend
to encounter the Wrestler Pikachu. This rank is much more difficult to achieve than Rank 20, as from Rank 20 a points system is activated, which gives you points for wins but deducts them again for losses.
Ascending from Rank 20 to the ranks Ace, Veteran, Expert, and finally Legend is therefore a task that only the best PvP players can master.
Rank 20, on the other hand, can also be reached if you play enough and win victories. Therefore, you should start doing this if you haven’t already.
How much time do I have left? Exactly about a month, because the current season ends on March 3, 2026. It is likely that after that new rewards will again be distributed in the PvP League.
What should I keep in mind? There is a downside regarding the Pikachu: It can’t be shiny this season. The chance of that anyway is low, but now it is zero. Thus, you currently won’t get the rarest version of the monster.
Nonetheless: Wrestler Pikachu is a pretty cool catch that is currently easier to achieve than usual.
The new season is still a few weeks away, but there is still a lot to do beforehand. February has quite a few exciting dates for you – like the Kalos Tour or the way to Kalos. New Pokémon are also appearing in the current Carnival event. In short: There’s a lot going on. You can see exactly what here in our overview of all events in February 2026 in Pokémon GO.
