In Pokémon GO, there is a helpful change to raids. This could make dodging significantly more useful.
In the raids of Pokémon GO, you often try to deal as much damage as possible in a short amount of time. Therefore, you usually rely on the best attackers in Pokémon GO. The goal is to defeat the raid boss before the timer runs out.
Defensive strategies often fall short, partly because dodging can be difficult. However, there seems to have been a change.
As the Reddit user “valuequest” shared in the Pokémon GO subreddit, there was a change in the time window for dodging the opponent’s charge attacks. And indeed: If you try the raids currently, you can notice a difference.
How to dodge in Pokémon GO during raids now
This is how it was: In the past, you only had short time windows to dodge the charge attack, but this small period is now more generous.
Until recently, you had to pay attention to the opponent’s attack animation and dodge at a briefly flashing light. Although there was a text announcement of the charge attack in the bottom right corner, it was unclear when exactly the dodging moment would come.
This is new: The small text message in the bottom right corner is now crucial for a successful dodge. As soon as the display “Pokémon X uses attack Y” appears, you can now swipe to the side and dodge. This already counts as a successful dodge of the following attack.
However, this can only be noticed if you actually dodge in raids. If you only focus on attacking, you won’t notice the change at all.
In short: You no longer need to focus on an attack animation or a flashing screen, but only on the text message. Then you dodge and can confidently attack while the opponent’s attack animation is executed.
This way, you can now more reliably avoid damage and possibly keep your strong attackers alive longer without wasting time on unnecessary dodging maneuvers that have incorrect timing.
What’s going on in Pokémon GO? Just recently, the raid day with Necrozma took place, where you could secure one of the best attackers in the game. Pokémon GO is now following up with the next event: Tomorrow, on December 17, the first part of the holiday event will start. You can read all information about the holiday event in Pokémon GO here.
