In Pokémon GO, the special research for Poni Island has been available since May 10, 2022. A trainer has now found a trick to complete the task with the Rocket Grunts even faster. We at MeinMMO have tried it out and explain how the trick works.
What kind of research is it? Currently, the Alola Season is running in Pokémon GO, during which you embark on a journey through the Alola region with Professor Willow. Each Alola island has its own special research.
Now it is Poni Island’s turn, whose special research “A Poni Adventure” has been available since May 10, 2022. The tasks and rewards for the new research are relatively easy to complete overall.
A reddit user has discovered a mistake that you can use as a trick to complete one of the quests even faster. We will show you what trick he found.
With this trick, you can “defeat” two Rocket Grunts at once
Which quest are we talking about? On the first table of the Poni special research, you are supposed to defeat two Grunts from Team GO Rocket. Normally, to solve the task, you would first need to catch one of the Grunts, battle him, and win that battle. Then you would have to repeat the entire process again.
This trick has been discovered: The reddit user Cyberfess encountered a bug while solving the task, which he shares with the reddit community. In his post, two images show that he left the battle against one of the Grunts, yet the task was still counted as completed.
He states (via reddit.com): “The task ‘Defeat 2 Team GO Rocket Grunts’ for ‘A Poni Adventure’ is faulty. It can be completed by quitting and leaving the battle.”
Such a possibility had already existed for similar tasks in the past – much to the delight of some trainers. As some reddit users note in the comments, this bug can indeed contribute to completing the task faster. We will show you how it works.
Here’s how simple the trick works
We at MeinMMO have naturally tried the trick and will explain how you can easily use it:
- Find a Rocket Grunt (you can find them at PokéStops and in balloons)
- Challenge the Grunt to a battle as usual, choose a team, and switch to the battle screen
- Once the battle has started, leave the battle via the “Exit” symbol in the top left corner of the screen
- Pokémon GO only recognizes the first battle as won
- Repeat this process once more to completely finish the task
